Ohio Supreme Court: Stark commissioners must fund purchase of Dominion voting machines

The Ohio Supreme Court has ruled in a 6-1 decision has ruled that the Stark County commissioners are required to fund the purchase of Dominion voting machines.

The court on Monday granted a Stark County Board of Elections request for a court order mandating the commissioners appropriate county funds, about $1.5 million, for the upfront cost to buy the machines.

"I'm very pleased and happy that they saw the law the same way we did," said Samuel Ferruccio, the chairman of the elections board. "I think it’s now in the county commissioners' lap for them to pay for the voting machines."

He said the commissioners have to vote to appropriate county funds for the machines within a reasonable time or the high court could hold them in contempt.

Jeff Matthews, the director of the elections board, said in a prepared statement: "We look forward to the County Commissioners moving per the Court's order to expeditiously acquire the new voting equipment so that it will be in place for the November election. The system has been fully certified as reliable and secure by the bipartisan U.S. Election Assistance Commission and the bipartisan Ohio Board of Voting Machine Examiners."

Matthews is the chairman of the Ohio Board of Voting Machine Examiners and the chairman of the Stark County Republican Party.

The commissioners' attorney, Mark Weaver, said the commissioners would follow the order. He referenced the commissioners' argument that the Board of Elections never provided the commissioners with a detailed description of the pros and cons of each voting machine option.

"We respect the court’s decision and will certainly comply with it but we remain disappointed that taxpayers were not given, and now may never receive, the information necessary to discern whether this proposed purchase is the best value and most effective,"....

For the life of me, I don't understand how a governor's son is allowed to sit on a Supreme Court.

Remember that name.

“He said the commissioners have to vote to appropriate county funds for the machines within a reasonable time or the high court could hold them in contempt.”

Illegal as hell in a sane world. “I am ordering you to vote this way”. Does it have to be unanimous? Do no votes get held in contempt?
I think I would flip the court the finger and go with contempt.

If you are ordered to “vote” a certain way under duress, it’s no longer a “vote”, is it.

The Commissioners should hold the Court in Executive contempt.

“He said the commissioners have to vote to appropriate county funds for the machines within a reasonable time or the high court could hold them in contempt.”

In other words, elected officials must vote they way a judge tells them or they will be held in contempt. So why make them go through the phony ‘democratic’ motion of voting, since if they vote the ‘wrong way’ they go to jail?

Couldn’t this be held up as an example of, I don’t know, judicial tyranny?

He was elected to sit on the Supreme court in 2016. His father was elected Governor in 2018.

Stark County had been using the Premier AccuVote-TSX machines.
The County Commissioners, unlike the Election board, were apparently influence by the massive libel campaign against Dominion perpetrated by Sidney Powell, Lin Wood, Mike Lindell, and others.

The democrats continue to spew that requiring voter ID will somehow disenfranchise minority voters, which anyone with a brain knows that’s a lie. Maybe using the Dominion voting machines is another democrat ploy to disenfranchise conservative voters and to continue to steal elections. Any American patriot should demand honesty and integrity in our voting system and if ANY electronic vote or vote counting machines are used, patriots will distrust the out come and should refuse to participate in any and all democrat / DC establishment Dominion vote scams. I personally will not vote until hand counting ballots only is used exclusively.

You make a most excellent point. More than one in fact.
Duress!
Also, something about separation of powers .....
Maybe the commissioners could claim “conscientious objector” status.
Thanks for posting.

If the state wants them to use voting machines, let the state pay for it.

“massive libel campaign against Dominion”

It’s not a libel campaign unless Dominion can prove in a court of law that the charges are not true.
