...But excuse me if I, like many of the people I see around me, am not yet quite ready to expose my lower face. Early on in the pandemic, I made a vow with my family that we would set a high standard for COVID-19 avoidance. Not only were we not getting this virus ourselves, if we could help it, but we were taking no chances of inadvertently spreading it to anyone else, even if that did make for a long and lonely year without indoor gatherings and travel to see family and friends.
...
The vaccines are remarkably effective, but not 100%. Breakthrough infections among vaccinated people have occurred (witness the cluster of cases among the New York Yankees), and the science about whether and how the virus can be transmitted by the vaccinated to the unvaccinated is not yet certain. Putting aside the hard science for a moment, wearing a mask in public spaces—especially indoors, where transmission is more likely—serves a broader social purpose: It says to those around us that, whatever our vaccine status, we value community safety.
When I walk outside my door into a densely populated neighborhood, I know as little about the life circumstances of the people I encounter as they do about mine. Are they, like me, fully vaccinated? Or are they in between shots, still looking for an appointment, or never planning to get a vaccine at all? Might they be in chemotherapy, or otherwise immunocompromised in some way that would prevent them from either getting a vaccine or experiencing its full benefits?
...
But if...some of us simply find comfort in going around with a scrap of cloth on our face, we can be forgiven for choosing to leave it there until the world feels like a safer place for everyone.

Atlantic has been running on empty since it’s inception
It’s funny though ....Freepers worship the Republican Party or at least did
The Atlantic was founded by Left of Lincoln radical Republican abolitionists
“ The Atlantic is an American magazine and multi-platform publisher. It was founded in 1857 in Boston, Massachusetts, as The Atlantic Monthly, a literary and cultural magazine that published leading writers’ commentary on education, the abolition of slavery, and other major political issues of that time. Its founders included Francis H. Underwood[3][4] and prominent writers Ralph Waldo Emerson, Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr., Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and John Greenleaf Whittier.[5][6] James Russell Lowe ...”
Freepers like to have narratives however they need them...truth is well....you know....subjective
I try to explain the contra talk radio truth about the GOPe ....the party that betrayed Trump has frequently betrayed conservatism since its inception
Deaf ears here for that....too complicated wardaddy....dude
“I’ll be the one.”
We’ll see about that.
“511,000 more deaths in 2020 from all causes than 2019.”
Road apples. If you’re going to believe crap like that, there can be no discussion.
“I find it amazing that the same people that argue that nobody died of COVID last yrear are arguing that everyone is dying from the vaccine this year. Is pointing that out a hostile act? Or a Micro-aggression?”
Nope. Just stupid. Those two propositions are not mutually exclusive.
“511,000 backed up by state numbers.”
Backed up by morons, crooks, and lying pieces of crap.
I don’t have a problem with others wearing masks. The Japanese, the immune compromised, the public transport commuter... the afraid...whomever.
not my problem or issue.

ROTFLMFAO!
In watching TV and some sort of med is advertised it shows happy people who just got on that med and while they’re jumping and happy the voice over is telling you the side effects that go on and on and ending sometimes with the word “death” - but these vaccines they want us to take ?
Watch out for the musicman, he’s giving you a run for your money!
Truth for me is that I daily come in contact with my brother who has had a liver transplant. We have all gotten the vaccine, but his immune system is so compromised that even after the vaccine his body has not developed any immunity. We do not wear masks when together inside or outside. But, I’ll still mask at stores in the chance that I could pick up the virus and pass it to him.
It’s still somewhat a free country and if she is dumb enough to wear a mask, rubber gloves or a haz-mat suit to assuage her fear after having been duped by the COVID panic mongers let her do it. However, don’t let her look condescendingly at those of us who make our own choices.
The Bagster fears no man, though that man be made of music.
: )
Childish. Simply childish.
I’m beginning to think that everyone who remains masked ARE the vaccinated ones.
