There is an extraordinary column in the Washington Post from Glenn Kessler on a key figure in past coverage on the removal of Confederate statues. The Post ran a widely cited article on how Robert E. Lee’s own descendant wanted the general’s statues to be removed. The problem is that no one at the Post appears to have actually checked to see if Rev. Robert W. Lee was an actual descendant. It now appears that he is not, according to Kessler.

The Charlottesville fiasco was almost 4 years ago. The WaPo really got right on that one, didn’t they?
The Ministry of Propaganda lies with such ease because they have a monopoly.
Argument by authority is a bunch of crap anyhow so it doesn’t matter if he’s a descendent or not but the Post can’t even get their logical fallacies right.
They don’t care, I’m sure, anything for the revolution but they pretend.
Like the “Winter Soldier” march where few of the veterans were actually veterans.
I found two quotes exampling Lee’s attitude. He said, “I have heard of the indictment and made up my mind to let the authorities take their course. I have no wish to avoid the trial the government may order”. In discussion with a pastor Lee said, “Doctor there is a good old book which I read, and you preach from, which says, ‘Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you’. Do you think that your remarks this evening were quite in the spirit of that teaching? I have fought against the people of the North because I believed they were seeking to wrest from the South dearest rights. But I have never cherished toward them bitter or vindictive feelings and have never seen the day when I did not pray for them.”
Note these dearest rights did not include slavery which Lee opposed, because Lincoln had already said at his first inauguration before Lee resigned his commission, “the Federal Government shall never interfere with the domestic institutions of the States, including that of persons held to service”.
Lee must always remain a primary point of attack, because he was such a good man.
How is it that Jonathan Turley, Alan Dershowitz and Bill Maher seem to be able (a little bit) to acknowledge Leftist tyranny and damned lies, and are yet unable to make the connections to their core professed beliefs ?
I worked with a Bruce Lee once. Not the fighter but he was a decendant of Robert E. Lee.
Fairy Tale Paper.
Has something to do with chicks, I'm guessing.
I wonder what kind church he is a pastor of, if it supports lying to further a cause? I’m guessing the First Church of Narcissus.
Lee also stated he would suffer the indignity of loss again if it meant the question of slavery was settled and the argument closed. He wanted very much for the nation to recover and prosper.
This makes him a far better man than any left-wing activist today.
Amen.
There is no news but fake news.
btt
But, but, just like Liawatha I bet his mommy told him he was.
Before anyone takes a Lee statue down they should read his biography and the look in a mirror to see how they measure up to him.
Check out National Park Service Ranger Matt Atkinson’s lecture/program in Robert E. Lee after the war. It is on YouTube and it is very good.
Yeah, he got right on that. Partisan Media Shill alert.
Thanks!
