We also discuss what each of us can do—for ourselves, our families and our communities—to overcome the impact of COVID-19. Featuring: Dr. Christine Grady (Chief, Department of Bioethics, National Institutes of Health Clinical Center).
Second, I strongly dislike it when people post long videos without either a synopsis or transcript. As such, I am providing this transcript on a best efforts basis with my own comments where I felt like it.
1:08: I think what’s really interesting is the question of children. And, I don’t know if you’re going there, but I was going to say (nervous laugh), you know, so far, these large vaccine trials that Tony mentioned (ed note: this is from September 2020) that are in Phase 3, none of them are including children yet. And so the question will be, when do we start thinking about safety in children, and efficacy in children…and then, you know, depending upon the data, they may be able to use extrapolation and other kinds of statistical methods that they’re familiar with and that the FDA uses (dramatic hand wave suggesting triviality) to try to extrapolate the data from the adults to the children.
That they were thinking it was OK to extrapolate adult medical results onto children is unreal. Extrapolation is acceptable when there is a level of homogeneity across the extrapolation zone. In this case, the physiology of a child is way different, and even statistical corrections may not hold true for a new virus OR a new vaccine.
7:27 (after explaining that most viral vaccines have a “killed” virus or a piece of the virus in it): Though the COVID vaccine actually is on a new platform. It’s a messenger RNA platform. Which actually works in a slightly different way…there is messenger RNA which is injected into muscle cells, and it gives instructions to those cells to make spike protein…actually copied from the spike protein of the virus itself. So the cells make spike protein, body makes antibody to that spike protein, and then you have a certain antibody that protects against getting COVID if you encounter it in the future…it is the first vaccine that we have in distribution using the messenger RNA platform…but it’s been in development for a long time.
15:48 (talking about whether or not pregnant women and/or children were in the trials): In those trials that were done, that were so successful, there were all adults, people over 18…pregnant women were excluded, children were excluded.
31:24: (why do you trust the process and why should we trust it?) We have this entity called “Operation Warp Speed” which had a role in both setting priorities and enabling the process mostly by financial resources and sort of guidance in that regard. I think the title “Operation Warp Speed” is unfortunate, because I think it added to the concerns that you just described, in terms of people worrying about not only speed but political pressure to do things that might not have otherwise been done…despite the politicization, and despite some of the pressures that we heard about, the data and safety monitoring board is an independent entity, and they met very frequently and very privately…and they were the ones that…gave the go-ahead…we can say to the companies it’s OK to put the package together and get an Emergency Use Authorization considered.
So Dr. Grady basically admits that the 'governing authority' over not just the process but TIMING of the publicizing of when a vaccine may be coming was done "privately."
46:10 (the interviewer): Some of these decisions were made under a previous administration. We have a new president and a new administration…is there a change with the new president? (Dr. Grady) Well, there are certainly many changes with the new president. A couple of things that come to mind…that are known to the public. One is, the explicit valuing of science, is very important in this endeavor.
57:26 “…should COVID vaccines be mandated for healthcare providers?” My response is the following…in many healthcare institutions, healthcare workers are required to take flu vaccines…in order to take care of patients, in order to protect the patients. I think that…where we are in the history of this pandemic, I don’t think mandating is the right choice at this point, for several reasons. We still need more data…the two vaccines that are being distributed are under an Emergency Use Authorization – they are not approved vaccines (emphasis from Dr. Grady)…and there is this background of concern about politicization…and distrust…that I think it's a mistake to force people to take it. So I don’t think we should be mandating vaccines.
If Dr. Grady wasn't in favor of mandating the vaccine for healthcare workers in Feb 2021 because there wasn't enough data and because these aren't approved vaccines (her words, not mine) and due to politicization, why are so many people clamoring for a mandate?
Mrs. Fauci. She should have the honesty to declare her affiliation.

I think the real reason they don’t want to mandate vaccines is because it will entail immediate multiple lawsuits. A federal mandate will mean a federal lawsuit with all sorts of discovery from federal agencies.
Stuff that they might be able to hide from FOIA requests through various exceptions would come out in discovery.
Do you think the CDC/NIH/NIAID can “prove” the medical and public health need for a mandate in court after the opposing expert witnesses shred their handling of data as well as their interpretations of it?
If these people thought they could get the courts to support forced vaccinations, they’d be on it like white on rice.

Totally agree. Her very cavalier attitude about giving the vaccine to children based on extrapolation is frightening.
I never trust someone who doesn’t take their husband’s last name. As a husband, my greatest joy was my wife accepting my last name and us becoming one in God. Her accepting my last name has nothing to do with her being subservient to me. To the contrary, she enhances me and I’d be less without her.
I barfed after I saw just 1 minute of this video. It’s as bad as the so-called vaccine.
