The Israel Defence Forces managed to trick Hamas into believing a ground invasion was underway last night and then obliterated their tunnel network knowing militants would be hiding underground waiting to ambush tanks and soldiers, reports in Israel claim.
There was confusion when the IDF said shortly after midnight that ground forces were 'attacking in Gaza', and later suggested that boots were on the ground. A spokesman later retracted that statement - saying that military operations were conducted along the border, but no Israeli troops had crossed it.
However, the announcement was apparently a well-planned ploy to get Hamas to send its fighters into its underground tunnel system beneath Gaza City, before bombarding the area, in the hope of eliminating large numbers of militants in one fell swoop.
Soldiers and tanks with drones equipped with night vision lay in wait for survivors as they surfaced, hitting them with aerial and ground fire. Snipers and missile units were also waiting for them on the ground.
Helicopters, jets, gun boats and artillery pounded northern and eastern parts of Gaza with more than 1,000 bombs and shells overnight Thursday as the IDF said it had carried out a 'complex' operation to destroy Hamas tunnels underneath Gaza City, which the military refers to as 'the Metro'.

....I believe there is an old expression, that goes along the lines of “the next war that Israel loses will be the first war it has ever lost, and it will be the last war that it will ever lose...” because there won’t be an Israel if that scenario ever played out.....I hope the IDF beats the crap out of these Hamas terrorists to the point that they will think twice before messing with Israel again...!!

People don’t understand how intertwined it all is. My dearest friend in Israel is a Nazarene Arab, Egyptian Orthodox Church. His son is a legit war hero for Israel. His (my friends) brother is a Muslim and a wanted terrorist.
That’s just one of a hundred of the overlaps in just my life.
Unfortunately the Hamas probably forced younger conscripts to the tunnels to endure the worst. Gaza used to not be walled, during that time, yes Israel was intense on the insurgent leadership but Hamas is way more cruel that Israel ever was. Now, Israel has no choice. Where is the loving muslim brothers to take in Gaza refugees? Why does even Egypt keep the border closed?
Nazis were pikers in the mass murder business - why every one brings them up when they were essentially tied with the Japanese is just stunning.
The Russian would take out even the neighbors, while the Chinese did not hesitate to starve entire regions.
But the principle of “killing them all” goes back to Antiquity. All the modern murderers are just following the tried and true principles of war. However since WWII, the West and Israel wage kinder and gentler warfare, which is historically new and the fruits born remain to be seen.

The Nazi’s made a point of selecting one specific peoples to exterminate - the Jews; other’s were caught up in their slaughter like the JW’s and gypsies. The Nazi’s specifically set up extermination camps just to gas millions; the Russians and Japanese weren’t selective, the Nazis were.
