Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) broke with pro-Trump Republicans on Tuesday afternoon, expressing support for House Republican Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney (R-WY) to remain in her leadership post.
Cassidy said “I support Liz Cheney” ahead of Wednesday’s vote in which House Republicans are expected to replace the Wyoming Republican with Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), according to AP reporter Melinda Deslatte.

I can’t believe the ex-Rat named John Kennedy is the GOOD one in Louisiana.
True, and I was totally against “John Kennedy” in the primary (DJ was much more open to electing him) because his party switch seemed to be 100% due to opportunism rather than sincere ideological reasons. Since then, he’s been pretty solid. As I recall, most FReepers were dead set against Josh Hawley too, whereas the now treasonous Ben Sasse was a “Tea Party” favorite at the time.

Though a bunch of nobodies took over 40% combined, he had no real primary opposition. Libertarian Austin Petersen was the most notable and he placed third behind some random air force dude who was by Palin and Seb Gorka.
