AUSTIN, Texas — Texas would allow people to carry a handgun without a license, and the background check and training that go with it, under a measure approved by the state Senate on Wednesday.
Texas already has some of the loosest gun laws in the country and has more than 1.6 million handgun license holders. Lawmakers have reduced classroom and shooting range training requirements over the last decade, but had been reluctant to eliminate the license requirement altogether.

Does this includes swords?
Too late
Yogafist might want to clarify what cops? In what part of the country.

Lots of cops think they’re Doc Holliday. Many can barely hit the broad side of a barn.
Hasn’t the AG more or less come out against this?
If you’re gonna push your agenda, at least get the state right. The McCloskey’s are not Texas residents.
However, there way too many cases of cops not being your friend that Jane Long can read up on
Out away from Atlanta there are quite a few schools that have skeet and trap teams and the numbers were growing, at least. With ammo being off the charts it’s hard to feed the habit.
Its never too late to show the deceit and lies...
By this evidence was known in jan... this is May and its being uncovered by non political citizens who had the will to fight
The republicans didnt..the corrupt
justice dept threatened them ... the left will not get their way as long as people care and fight the power grab from theft.
Ww shall see how this is handled when the evidence is laid out bare. They can’t leave a non elected biden in as pres.....
You went through it I didn’t. Saying ..... I’d like to speak to an attorney ....ends all questioning and interrogation. At least it should.
And with cameras and audio in every interview room there ain’t no hiding it.
Well, you do have to answer them eventually or they can hit you with obstruction of justice charges.
Negative on the obstruction charge. Possibly a contempt charge in court if you’re called as a witness.
No, I’ve seen a DA file that against a victim. Remember, we are envisioning a hostile DA here, backed by a court system that won’t do anything against all but the most blatant, egregious excesses.
Requesting medical attention gets you taken partially aside from the officers or even to the hospital where the officer will only be there to make sure you don’t flee - you can use the time to get calmed down, to organize your thoughts and actually get checked out - you may actually have a serious medical issue being masked by the adrenaline dump and aftereffects and it really is best that you get checked out.
Yes, the government will make sure that innocent shooters can’t afford the ammo they need.
All the Soros DAs. And for some strange reason they seem to be increasing their numbers.
And many that aren’t funded by Soros, like Abel Reyna, former Waco, Texas DA, who was behind the Twin Peaks Biker Massacre and the travesties of justice that resulted and continue to result from that.
Has to go back up the ladder again where the senate republicans will add more poison.
Only if the police submit to training that determines if they are of good mind and not a bucket of PTSD looking for an outlet. They can wear a placard showing we aren’t dealing with a psycho cop. Deal?
True but one of the Senators will nix it via parliamentary rules
Well if constitutional carry does not make it to the governor’s desk this legislative session, folks have a choice...exercise your right to carry a weapon to protect yourself by obtaining a CHL license or just don’t.
CC would be the preferred outcome, but obtaining a license through the state is so unbelievably easy. I have a difficult time understanding why all these people keep squawking.
I think many want CC because they for one reason or another would not qualify for a state issued CHL.
I think the point is.... according to the US Constitution... you shouldn't have to "qualify" for a state-issued permission to carry.
Texas should have been leading the way on this issue... but, instead, is behind the times (20 other states already have CC). Why is that? Probably because there are too many anti-2nd Amendment leftists in Texas making Texas policy, against the will of the majority of Texans (like leftist Democrats always do).
I hope this reaches the gov's desk for signature...but I'm not holding my breath for that to happen.
Each legislative session inches closer and closer to the goal of Constitutional Carry.
Personally, It's not the top topic on my agenda. I've had my CHL since Bush was Gov. and they've just made it easier and easier to obtain.
My top concerns are illegal immigration and draconian property taxes.
