Broadway theaters can reopen at 100 percent capacity on Sept. 14, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday.

Tickets for shows will go on sale beginning Thursday, the governor said during a press briefing in Manhattan.

When asked whether vaccinations against the coronavirus will be required for theater lovers, state budget director Rob Mujica said, “It’s not finalized yet.”

It makes it sound as if Cuomo’s reasoning is virus related, but given all the stuff necessary to putting on a Broadway show it is highly likely that with this last minute notice most shows could not be ready for live performances before September, no matter what date Cuomo chose.

It should not surprise anyone if how Cuomo came up with the date by checking with a number of Broadway producers with the question - when can you be ready?
