Oh, So Now Herd Immunity Cannot Be Obtained?

There are no more experts. They know nothing. So, don’t listen to them. Okay, maybe that’s not actually fair—but the real experts are being ignored by the liberal media for a simple reason: they want the COVID panic to continue. They want more deaths to occur. They want a spike. They want to keep the nation locked down. It’s partially out of spite. Blue states are still under Nazi-esque lockdown rules—and their cases are still bad. Not like last year, but Michigan is seeing a massive spike, whereas Texas who nixed their mask mandate over five weeks ago and reopened fully has seen no spikes—none. Florida has also been a state that has managed its COVID crisis better than the media gave it credit for, painting Gov. Ron DeSantis as the grim reaper. It turns out the entire media establishment ate it on that one—no shock. The good news is that even though Democratic states cannot manage COVID, there is no fourth wave. A spike in one state—Michigan, does not make a wave no matter what the CDC says. Even Dr. Anthony Fauci has said he doesn’t think there’s going to be a fourth wave. And alas, here is the circus. The CDC saying there’s “impending doom,” which was voiced around spring break to Fauci saying, ‘nah, that ain’t happening.’ The messaging on COVID protocols has been a mess; the ones with vaccines has been even worse. An MIT study pretty much gutted or cast immense doubt on the effectiveness and purpose of air filtration systems, indoor capacity caps, and even mask wearing. Folks think they’re protected wearing a mask. Nope. It’s an airborne virus. If you’re inside with someone exposed, that mask isn’t doing much, whether it be six or sixty feet apart. It’s all a mess, and now we have this garbage about not reaching herd immunity (via NYT):

Early in the pandemic, when vaccines for the coronavirus were still just a glimmer on the horizon, the term “herd immunity” came to signify the endgame: the point when enough Americans would be protected from the virus so we could be rid of the pathogen and reclaim our lives.

Now, more than half of adults in the United States have been inoculated with at least one dose of a vaccine. But daily vaccination rates are slipping, and there is widespread consensus among scientists and public health experts that the herd immunity threshold is not attainable — at least not in the foreseeable future, and perhaps not ever.

Instead, they are coming to the conclusion that rather than making a long-promised exit, the virus will most likely become a manageable threat that will continue to circulate in the United States for years to come, still causing hospitalizations and deaths but in much smaller numbers.

How much smaller is uncertain and depends in part on how much of the nation, and the world, becomes vaccinated and how the coronavirus evolves. It is already clear, however, that the virus is changing too quickly, new variants are spreading too easily and vaccination is proceeding too slowly for herd immunity to be within reach anytime soon.

We discussed this before, including medical doctors. Do you see what’s missing? There is a glaring omission: natural immunity. The coverage on COVID has become so bad that liberal data crunchers, like Nate Silver, are coming off as conservative on social media, as he’s taken a hatchet to some of the narratives being peddled out here. He recently said there were “a lot of bad takes” about how Florida handled COVID. Dr. Marty Makary of Johns Hopkins also weighed in, saying the article omits herd immunity. Others also noted that the Times doesn’t seem to know the difference between herd immunity and eradication.

Look, the vaccine is a choice. I got it. A ton of my friends have as well, but we also know that the messaging is terrible.

‘Get the vaccine but stay locked up’ is not going to get people to sign up. I can understand the hesitancy. Luckily, tens of millions are getting shots and ignoring the indirectly idiotic advice experts have doled out. They’re all bureaucrats and ALL bureaucrats have agendas, Fauci being the biggest of all. Almost every protocol they’ve come up with is either nonsensical or enforced and applied in ways that make no sense. The NCAA basketball tournament being a prime example. Players must wear masks and be socially distanced on the bench…but not while they’re playing on the court? This is a virus with a. 90+ percent survivability rate. Is it contagious? Sure—it’s why based on the data that Dr. Makary thinks that up to two-thirds of the US population might have already had the infection. Natural immunity is something that is never applied in these scenarios which is malpractice. The reinfection rate for those who already had COVID is also immensely low. The truth is we’re probably very close to herd immunity, but government doctors lie. And with the CDC being exposed for colluding with teachers’ unions to keep schools closed—do you still trust the experts? They’re political operatives that are no better than the ones who are on panels of guest host on networks like CNN or MSNBC.

I have absolutely ZERO issues with anyone that has decided to get one of the vaccines. I cannot emphasize that enough.

I am 100% all about folks making the choices they think are best for them or their family. Unless it comes to guns for self defense, then I might have some issues.

lightman....no issues with your decision. As I hope you have none with mine.

What this virus has done to this country, along with electing a moron and a puppet, is going to take a long time to overcome, if it can be overcome.

But, that clown above saying that those of us that don’t or contributing to the apocalypse....No bueno

Early January of 2020, I was working in Iraq. Contract I was on was forced to pack up and get out of the country due to the increasing violence. Traveled through Erbil, Dubai and then home. About 2 days after I got home I started feeling like crap. Got worse over the next two days. I don’t know if I lost my sense of taste or smell because I didn’t eat and just laid in bed, as much as I could. Body aches like I’ve never had before. Decided to head to the ER the next day. Woke up the next day feeling ok. This was before there was a named virus, CORONA or COVID 19....A friend is a cop in the area. Went to a meeting with the local, small hospital in town, right as things were really starting to get weird. He spoke to the doctor in charge of the place and was told that they had been dealing with folks with all the symptoms since early January, they just didn’t know what it was. Respiratory infection or the flu.

The mRNA vaccines give 90% or more of the vaccinated IMMUNITY.

Isn't it that 100% of the vaccinated can still contract the disease (zero immunity), but only 10% become symptomatic when they get it? Or do 10% of those vaccinated show symptoms of the disease whether they're exposed to it or not?

Isn't everyone who's vaccinated subject to side effects from the spike protein, their own cells having been commandeered to create said protein? ... and the jeopardy from those side effects may last for months ... or is it decades?

Do you suppose eventually, as your body ages and loses certain rejuvenation capabilities, a side effect that some people had immediately will finally come calling on you?

Don’t you find it amusing and frustrating, at this point, that there are still so many in hysterics over this. Can it be bad for some folks...the ones with one foot in the grave....? Yup.

But, then again, damn near every employee of every grocery store, Lowes, Home Depot, ACE Hardware, Academy Sports, Dick’s, Governor Newsome’s winery, and a whole host of other “essential” businesses should be dead and buried.

This is the Trump Vaccine that you are dissing!

1.) Dissin is not a word. The word you are looking for is insulting.

2.) So?

3.) Trump did not develop any of the vaccines.

4.) So?

Agree. I think they were tip toeing in 2016, thinking that would be enough or, even if Jeb won, it would almost be like her winning anyway.

They never saw Donald J Trump coming and there was nothing stopping him.

So, they went all in for last years election, knowing that he was going to walk away with it, again. Probably deliver a worse beating to the Dem’s than in ‘16.

I’m not the least bit confident about next year, but they’re going to have to duplicate, next year, what they did last November. That is, if we still have a functioning country by then.

“And for the Anti-vaccers here: It was our beloved DJT who pushed Operation Warp Speed. This is the Trump Vaccine that you are dissing!”

Yeah. So? I still don’t want the vaccine. I got kung flu and recovered.

You know Operation Warp Speed was supply chain management, right? And that Trump didn't wear masks and demonstrated the safety of HCQ? And became ill with Covid-19 and beat it without a vaccine? And talked favorably about alternatives until the MSM shut him down by screaming he wasn't a medical doctor?

This quote says it well:

"Actually, in 2020 President Trump said that the vaccine should not be mandatory, that the therapeutics were great and that they might make the vax unnecessary (which is true, it is unnecessary).

Trump met with Dr Andrew Wakefield back in ~2015, proposed putting RFK Jr in charge of vaccine safety evaluation, has expressed skepticism over the childhood vaccine schedule (and that too many are harmful).

He and Rand Paul were the two R primary candidates favorable to vaccine choice. And it is conservative Republicans who have the greatest resistance to your cv19 gene therapy."

The issue I have with these “vaccines” is that they continue to allow infection and spread, apparently. They very well may, and likely with intention, support the spread of more lethal forms of the virus.

Remember, no one has shut down, or blown up, the lab in Wuhan.

Michigan’s cases have dropped by half in the last 3 weeks. My home county has seen caseload drop by three quarters. What they’re saying in this article is out of date.

This is the Trump Vaccine that you are dissing!

So what?

Or are you part of the troll cadre that is trying to equate acceptance of the vaccine as acceptance of Trump and rejection of the vaccine as a rejection of Trump?

The old, very scientific definition for "herd immunity" was the result of people surviving a disease to where the disease begins to decrease because the intended hosts are immune to it.

Last year, the WHO changed the definition to "when everyone is vaccinated."

Which one is more scientific? The original definition or the one announced by Tedros, who is not a doctor?

Which definition best helps the vaccine effort?

I report, you decide.

Yeah, all the retail workers around here wear masks but pull them down a LOT. Lots of homemade masks, bandanas, useless surgical masks made in in china. I’ve seen the same girls working at the grocery store here the whole time and I don’t think any of them have been missing for two weeks because they had to quarantine at home. Saw a girl at Casey’s convenience store in the kitchen with her mask pulled down below her nose and mouth. Not the first time I’ve seen that.

My wife works at a nursing home and covid has been brought in twice by employees. They did have two residents die but my wife said, pfft, they were ... rough to begin with. She’s a very caring person and often cries when a resident dies so if she said that, they were already gone really.

So there’s two out of the county’s 35 total. Flu would have killed them or within this past year+, one of their other ailments would have. Sad but that’s the way it is. People that are very unhealthy tend to die.

Wife gets hugs and kisses from us all the time. Takes no special precautions outside of work. Wears the same scrubs for a couple of days in a row. We should have had it. Then again, we haven’t been sick in 4-5 years. No colds, no flus. We had them all in the first 4-5 years she worked there because she brought them all home, then it just stopped.

Last few days, my stomach/GI system has been messed up. Getting better as of today though. Was it covid? Could have been but if that’s all it is, great. Wife tested negative for COVID last night at work. We’ll see what her next test says because if one of us has it, the other will get it. She gets tested every week. Might have been something I ate but that usually only lasts a day or two.

The flu disappeared though, that’s nice. LOL.

Gawd, all the frightful things we’ve heard. Stays on surfaces for days. Travels through duct work. Lingers in the air for hours. COVID farts can go 25 feet.

Ill fitting and homemade masks? That’s fine.

Wearing a mask over a full beard? That’s fine.

Riots and protests? fine

Trump rally? Super Spreader Event.

You going to a restaurant and not wearing a mask? NO

Dem politicians being photographed at a restaurant with no mask? Fine

Would have made a heck of a dystopian movie.

We, as a society, have rejected herd immunity. The media just hasn’t accepted it yet. Best to just forget about it. It’s not necessary anyway. Just more hype.

Herd immunity can be reached I believe.

But, it’s going to take longer than expected.

People vaccinated will have to wait for people not vaccinated to get Covid.

So herd immunity will happen, but it’ll take more time due to people in fear of the vaccines.

The 1918 Spanish Flu went away eventually without a vaccine.
That took over 2 years.........
