Many Republican governors are fighting hard right now against the progressive agenda to maintain some semblance of a sane life, especially with regards to Draconian COVID regulations, infringement on constitutional 2nd Amendment rights and the acceptance of illegal immigrants. This is all good. However, the key to this voter protest will be the traditional moderate Democrats. (Yes, there are still a lot of them.) Obviously, conservatives will be opposed to the progressives right from the start, but they only comprise 40-45% of the vote. In order for the really hard-core progressive movement to be stopped, it will take significant old-line Democratic participation.
This will be difficult, because emotional/team “rooting” in politics is a very high hurdle to overcome. To a snooty New England liberal who has always voted for the Democrat to all of a sudden vote for a Republican is a tall order indeed. But if things do get that bad -- if their personal finances are shredded, their career prospects are short-circuited and their kids’ education consists of even more one-sided leftist indoctrination than it does now -- then those Joe the Plumber lifelong Democrats will jump ship and join with conservative to wrest back control of the country.
Upper-crust liberals won’t care about a progressive transformation, because, like the privileged Soviets of fifty years ago, they already “have theirs” and so they’ll be unaffected by the new Progressive rules.
The voter backlash succeeds when the average Democrat -- the teacher, the plumber, the small-town doctor who isn’t making the big bucks -- realizes that most of their work is merely supporting others and the chances of them and their children really getting ahead in life are essentially nonexistent, thanks to the new progressive government policies.

My family’s been on these shores for almost 400 years now.
We’ve seen a lot.
It can, and likely will, get far, far worse.
Cuz we don’t make folks like we used to.
And our bureaucracy is one heckuva lot bigger...
“Upper-crust liberals won’t care about a progressive transformation, because, like the privileged Soviets of fifty years ago, they already ‘have theirs’ and so they’ll be unaffected by the new Progressive rules.”
It’s possible to get around the constitutional capitation proportionality limitation by setting higher wealth tax rates for poorer states and then allowing a full income tax credit for the higher wealth tax rate amounts.
Mississippi rich folks would pay a higher wealth tax rate on April 14th and have the excess (and maybe a bit more) credited to their April 15th income tax amount.
The upper-crust liberals should also bear in mind that under Communism it is possible to go from dacha to pine box in one day.
“...we don’t make folks like we used to.”
Literally and figuratively.
We don’t birth as many per family as we used to, and we don’t parent and teach them like we used to.
A social cancer called progressivism (= cultural Marxism) has been spreading in our nation for a century. It has metastasized now; it is everywhere, spread by teachers and MSM, and has infected every layer of our once-great society (we created the Bill of Rights, ended slavery and got to the moon with slide rules).
The saturation and acceptance of leftist thought in America is a very bad thing. It will get worse.
My family has been here close to the same.
Our first home still stands built in 1667 and is a NY historic landmark.
My great uncle had a Naval Destroyer named after him.
We’ve seen a lot.
The folks in this country now are fat, lazy, and pathetic.
They care more about their stupid trucks or cars and craft beers than their future.
No wonder our freedoms are getting steam-rolled.
This article is way to optimistic. Coastal elites + government employees + those on benefits + visible minorities is more than half the population.
Keep those groups happy and they are in power. If you aren’t in one of those groups they don’t care how much you hate them.
The next Constitution should (among other things) explicitly outlaw government employee unions, government pensions, and government “charity” for citizens. No welfare, medicare, social security, etc. That’s all intended to buy votes. Build a system that demands personal responsibility and does not guarantee safety. Our present situation is largely driven by fear and the need for “safety”. The government cannot really give us that, and we should stop demanding it.
“Cuz we don’t make folks like we used to.”
I was watching War Room on April 19, and Bannon was playing up the anniversary of Lexington and Concord. He was outraged (me, too!) that because of Covid the annual re-enactment event was cancelled for in-person attendance. He said he couldn’t imagine the Founding Fathers seeing the contrast between the bravery of people in 1775 and the wimped-out pansies in 2020-2021.
For our family, one of the reasons we object to the masks, lockdowns, and other restrictions is not to insult our ancestors. They came here on a rickety boat that almost sank, in the winter, across the Atlantic, to nothing except 100% hardship. There wasn’t even an outhouse on this side of the pond. And now we’re supposed to forget bold heritage and be afraid of a cootie and cower behind a mask because the risk of surviving is a ghastly 99.97%?
No. We don’t make folks like we used to. That’s for sure.
“...Many Republican governors are fighting hard right now against the progressive agenda ...”
N O W ?????????????????????????????
The 1984 Winter Olympics were in Sarajevo. People in the street claimed not to even know their nationality, beyond “Yugoslav”.
Eight years later, they were eating rats in basements when they could catch them, and slitting throats over Serb vs. Croat vs, Bosniak.
We have a long way to go.
That happened pretty quick there.
I believe we ain’t seen nuthin’ yet.
The key to this is to clean up voting laws, make voter ID mandatory, do away with mail-in balloting, eliminate same-day only voting, no ballot harvesting allowed, clean up the voting rolls.
Until these things are dealt with and election laws tightened up, none of it matters.
How much worse can it get?
Under Biden, the sky’s the limit.
No we don't. We simply import them wholesale to replace the folks we used to make.
