President Joe Biden’s Justice Department would have reportedly arrested Derek Chauvin at the courthouse if the jury found him not guilty on all counts.
Leading up to Derek Chauvin’s murder trial, Justice Department officials had spent months gathering evidence to indict the ex-Minneapolis police officer on federal police brutality charges, but they feared the publicity frenzy could disrupt the state’s case.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig* has some concerns about the Department of Justice’s new and widespread investigations into police departments across the nation, as well as the new George Floyd Justice in Policing Act that would effectively destroy local police and give the federal government the power to police us all.
Here’s what the Justice in Policing Act would do:
Allow civil lawsuits against police, which you can bet will force a huge number of police to quit so they don’t get sued every day.
Severely limit the use of force against violent criminals (so we’ll only have to worry about dead cops and innocents).
Mandate super-woke critical race theory training for every officer in America (effectively destroying the separation of power between police agencies in our federalist system).
Create a “police misconduct registry” so that every officer in America can be watched and monitored by the federal government (which again, is wholly righteous, may the Party be praised!)
The Act says it would “Empower our communities to reimagine public safety in an equitable and just way.”

It’s not double jeopardy. We have dual sovereigns. Thus, you can be charged under State law and Federal law for the same incident.
I personally think this doctrine should be overturned, but it was just upheld by the Supreme Court in Gamble v. United States in a 7-2 decision. Only Gorsuch and Ginsburg disagreed.
Justice Gorsuch got this right for the right reasons, Ginsburg got the right result for the wrong reasons.

I can't believe this is constitutional no matter what anyone says. It most certainly is double jeopardy, and any ordinary citizen alive in Jefferson's day would immediately recognize it as such. Only a lawyer could contort law in such a way as to void the constitutional rights of innocent men.
