Biden's racial equity agenda targets 'exclusionary' single-family neighborhoods
The Washington Times ^ | April 28, 2021 | KERY MURAKAMI

President Biden wants to transform the character of many American cities and suburbs by building more apartment buildings in quiet and frequently disproportionately White neighborhoods of single-family homes.

The Biden administration sees remnants of America’s segregationist past in what it calls “exclusionary” zoning laws, which allow only single-family homes in large swaths of cities and suburbs.

As part of a racial equity agenda the president is pursuing in his massive infrastructure plan, Mr. Biden would send federal grants to cities if they eliminate those zoning laws and allow more lower-income people, often minorities, in areas that typically have better schools and fewer social ills that plague poor, inner-city communities.

Zoning laws that allow only single-family houses “keep families from moving to neighborhoods with more opportunities for them and their kids,” the administration said in a fact sheet describing its $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan.

The administration also is arguing that increasing the supply of housing by encouraging more apartment buildings would bring down the cost of rent.

The idea has been proposed before, at since at least the Obama administration, and always runs into stiff opposition.

In a Wall Street Journal op-ed in August, President Trump and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson derided the idea of federal government discouragement of single-family zoning. They called it a policy of “coercion, domination and control.”

Mr. Trump and Mr. Carson accused Democrats of plotting to destroy the suburbs.

I’d be the first one to list my home. Even at a loss, I’d be the hell out of there.

This administration is attacking the mainstream of American life.

This was one of Obama’s pet ideas. First it was homeless
tent encampments. Now this!

I don’t have a problem with inter-racial neighborhoods, as
long as people can afford it, but to flood White middle
class neighborhoods ghetto tenements? NO!

People have million dollar investments in family and the home,
and no government idiot from Washington, D. C. has any right
whatsoever to impact that negatively.

Author and investigative reporter Stanley Kurtz should be asked about this when interviewed about socialist plans for the suburbs. He has written a book about those plans.

When Obama was an Illinois Senator he and Bill (step on the American flag) Ayers had gained total control of the distribution of funds from the Annenberg foundation which they passed its millions on to lefty fronts offering courses to Illinois and Chicago schools pushing the what soon would be the BLM agenda.
BUt at that time when Obama was doing this Kurtz tried to expose those radical left study programs over a program held by WGN radio’s Extension 720 hosted by Milton Rosenberg but was threatened by protesters who prevented a cohearent presentation.

Good idea! Let's start with Darien,Connecticut...Mountain View,California...and Martha's Vineyard. Maybe the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and its Trump hating RINO Governor can seize the land between Obama's mansion and the beach and erect a 20 story low income apartment building.

Those neighborhoods have better opporutnities BECAUSE they are exclusionary to competent people.

Race has nothing to do with it

Not a problem. If I was worried about crap like this becoming law, I would have voted in the Georgia Senate Runoffs, rather than listen to Lin Wood and ‘boycott’ the elections, you know, to ‘teach the GOP a lesson’...something far more important to me than having a safe place to raise my kids.

I believe he means ALL of America will be sent forced integration Section 8 style "new neighbors and friends." Not any place to move to.

Instead of watching TV news for city "Teens shoot 11 and 5 die in sudden violent outburst tonight" you will see it right next dooe and on your front lawn. Convenient.

Not any place to move to.

Sure there is, just move to the middle of nowhere. Not my first choice but I'd damned sure wouldn't stand from some ghetto section 8 apartment in my area. Hell, I'd live in a Motorhome before I allowed that to happened.
