Texas is reporting far fewer new cases of the Chinese coronavirus than blue Michigan, which is now requiring the masking of toddlers, despite the Lone Star State lifting its statewide mask mandate over a month ago.
Michigan is experiencing a surge in coronavirus cases despite Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) continuing to operate the state under coronavirus restrictions, including a statewide mask mandate. In fact, on Monday, the state began requiring toddlers, or those ages 2-4, to also join in wearing masks. Prior to Monday, the rule only extended to those over the age of five.

They won’t consider the notion that masks are ineffective.
What was it that was said about continuing to do the same thing while expecting different results?
And......this is even with the hundreds/thousands (GOK) of infected illegals that XiDen forced into our state.
May God continue to bless Texas.
Honest Question: Are hospitals Masking newborns these days?
Don’t laugh. Just look at your president, all mummified during his latest ZOOMS.
Child abuse? Okay, that is Child Abuse.
The British variant will eventually hit Texas in numbers.
Though they have the advantage of sunshine and warm/hot temperatures, this virus transmits indoors. Driving people indoors and less fresh air.
Lots of shared indoor air.
It has little to do with masks either way.
The issue is FREE States and FEAR States!
Lulz, idiocy.
And the Leftist claim to follow the science despite study after study indicating mask wearing does not do sh*t. It has more psychological value than anything else.
MI legislature is very much Red.
They have sued the Governor out of most anti corona virus measures.
Texas new state motto should be
“We are not as f$%# up as Detroit!”
Detroit is the epicenter of Michigan’s CV problems.
Detroit is even worse than Chicago for some reason.
Articles such as this are (purposefully) misleading in that they imply that once the mask and social distancing mandates were lifted, people immediately stopped observing those public health measures.
That is simply not true. People are still practicing those measures. We went to a restaurant that has a “Dining now open” sign outside, and only one other table was occupied, by a single person. When I go shopping, the majority of people are wearing masks. Most business have signs stating that masks are required for entry. Masks are mandatory at the doctors’ offices, and the vet comes out to clients’ cars to pick up the patients or deliver medications. In addition, vaccines are becoming more available and more of the population is getting vaccinated.
Overall, Michigan has fewer cases per capita than Texas. I do not know why new cases lately are higher in Michigan than in Texas (7.08k vs. 4.443k today). One thing to keep in mind is that new case growth is a lagging indicator of conditions 2-3 weeks or longer ago. No doubt, the Michigan governor is responding to a situation, but I don’t know what it is. I wonder if one of the new more transmissible strains of Covid-19 is circulating in MI.
In any case, the lifting of mandates in Texas do NOT prove that masks are useless. Many medical studies show mask efficacy. One study showed that mandates increase use of masks or social distancing by 1-2%.
Of course, nobody needs to be told they aren't getting enough oxygen wearing one or that it cuts off socialization and the many ways your body is rejecting them.
“...The existing scientific evidences challenge the safety and efficacy of wearing facemask as preventive intervention for COVID-19. The data suggest that both medical and non-medical facemasks are ineffective to block human-to-human transmission of viral and infectious disease such SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19, supporting against the usage of facemasks. Wearing facemasks has been demonstrated to have substantial adverse physiological and psychological effects. These include hypoxia, hypercapnia, shortness of breath, increased acidity and toxicity, activation of fear and stress response, rise in stress hormones, immunosuppression, fatigue, headaches, decline in cognitive performance, predisposition for viral and infectious illnesses, chronic stress, anxiety and depression. Long-term consequences of wearing facemask can cause health deterioration, developing and progression of chronic diseases and premature death. Governments, policy makers and health organizations should utilize prosper and scientific evidence-based approach with respect to wearing facemasks, when the latter is considered as preventive intervention for public health.”
You think maybe the MD scoundrels offering advice re the Covid knew that wearing masks would increase the incidence of the virus? That sure seems to be the case.
‘Many medical studies show mask efficacy.’
blah blah blah; been hearing that song and dance for over a year now, and here we are still talking about ‘cases’...
yeah, masks have done a bang up job...
U full of fear.
The tested are being used to deceive.
“External peer review of the RTPCR test to detect SARS-CoV-2 reveals 10 major scientific flaws at the molecular and methodological level: consequences for false positive results.”
“1d) Detection of viral genes
RT-PCR is not recommended for primary diagnostics of infection. This is why the RT-PCR Test used in clinical routine for detection of COVID-19 is not indicated for COVID-19 diagnosis on a regulatory basis...”
“...These are severe design errors, since the test cannot discriminate between the whole virus and viral fragments. The test cannot be used as a diagnostic for SARS-viruses.”
..”
Or maybe Michigan’s cases aren’t really cases....
Hi ya! Ping to #15. Interesting stuff.
There is no excuse for any state to continue wearing masks. In reading the article, which I normally don’t do pass the headlines on our far, I found it interesting that New York is counted twice, once for the city, and once for the balance of the state. Once you add those two they have an incredibly high count.
Oh, good grief. 🙄
I’m in Texas and restaurants are full and thriving with lots of laughing, happy free faces. Many, many businesses have either removed their “Masks Required” signs completely or replaced them with “Masks Recommend” signs, meaning free-breathers are welcome.
I see fewer and fewer face diapers in stores every week.
I suspect it’s pretty much stores like Walmart and Target that might still have “Masks Required” signs up. ( I don’t go to those places anyway.)
