The birth family of the Ohio teenage girl who was shot by police outside her foster home Tuesday is mulling a lawsuit, according to a report.

Ma’Khia Bryant, 16, was shot dead after calling police for help when two woman started fighting with her outside the Columbus home, her cousin Deja Torrence told Insider.

Police opened fire as she lunged at one of the women with a knife, according to dramatic footage released by police.

Nicholas Reardon, the officer who killed Bryant, has been assigned to desk duty while the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation looks into the shooting, the report said.

Torrence said her cousin was failed by the foster system, and her mother and Bryant’s biological mother are talking to a lawyer about pursuing unspecified legal action, according to the outlet.

“Someone has to be held accountable,” Torrence told Insider. “The family just doesn’t want this to be another senseless killing that goes under the rug and gets overlooked.”

Torrence reportedly said that Bryant was not a violent person, and must have believed her life was in danger. She told Insider that her family had talked to the teen about walking away from conflicts.

“We’re talking about a kid. She’s a kid. She’s 16 defending herself from 20-something-year-olds,” Torrence, 29, told the outlet.

“If I felt threatened, if I felt that a group of individuals was coming on my property where I lived to fight me, I would get whatever I needed to protect myself.”

“Someone has to be held accountable,” Torrence told Insider.

I would suggest that unfit mother who birthed this dangerous crazy feral animal look in the mirror.

What does the feral animal's father think about all this? We haven't heard from him yet. Maybe money will bring the family back together.

The probably just want “go away” money. As in: We are suing the city for $10 million. But we’ll drop the lawsuit and go away for $250,000.
Cities will often take that sort of deal.

There was nothing senseless about the killing.

How many white horses to pull her gold-plated coffin?

I thought a party other than the deceased made the 911 call. Seems that this story is getting rewritten just as Geo. Floyd was shot to death according to a news article yesterday.

Offer them $50k worth of scratch-off lottery tickets...might keep them busy for a brief while.

The birth family? More like the breeding hosts.

Plus bio mom was right there, ready for cameras. I bet there’s fraud involved regarding foster $ payments.

Also, there were 7or8 911 calls from that house. They “hate” the police, but call them constantly to manage their ridiculous, violent lives.

What’s exhausting is thinking about all of these people that produce little other than more dependants, soak up resources, and contribute nothing positive to society.

With the recent precedent in Minneapolis and a few other cities, I figure the city of Columbus will make the Bryant? family multi-millionaires pretty damn quick.

“The girl whose life was saved should sue the estate, and have a constructive trust place on any potential settlement (because that is where this is headed).”

That’s a good idea and has some legal basis. The girl in pink probably had some minor injury from being shoved around, but the mental trauma of seeing the knife coming would be the big payday.

Maybe the city should sue the family for doing such as lousy job of parenting and endangering city police officers.

And the only reason they’re “mulling” a lawsuit over rather than it already being filed, is that they need time to cover up their criminality. Guaranteed.

No doubt.

As was already posted above, they will sue for 10 million, and the city will

pay $750,000 to make it go away. Not a bad days scam there.

I’m guessing the family is smart enough NOT to sue the police. The foster care agency and the foster care host family who sheltered this mutant might be more attractive targets.

Do you think we’ll hear about bad drugs being involved via the autopsy?
