We may have some stragglers, but the vaccine uptake is already so high among the at risk groups (over 80% of folks over 65 already had a first shot), and the pace of new vaccination is so high (and will continue accelerating), I don’t think a new wave will be able to mount, before herd immunity drives this disease down.

I think it basically is already baked into the cake.
I some places it will collapse (is collapsing) before others (Michigan is having a last fling with COVID).
It may be that those places that were locked down the tightest don’t have as much natural immunity, and will run a little longer until hitting herd immunity - but this pace of vaccination will crush COVID Nationwide by the 4th of July.

I think it will be like my experience with the Border Wall Program. There were a few hard core cynics (like menopausal Ann Coulter), who were convinced that nothing would ever be done, and President Trump was just full of crap.
Then as the miles piled up, they gradually faded into the background, and stopped posting. I didn’t see folks coming out and saying “Gee, I was wrong.” or anything like that. The opposition just gradually tapered off.
