Sens. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) introduced a bill to forgive student debt.

The Earn to Learn Act establishes a matched savings program for “low-income” college students. “The funds can be used to pay for tuition, books, and other education-related expenses that might otherwise prevent them from attending,” according to the Arizona Republic.

Heard some national “conservative” host this morning (on a program I don’t listen to, on a station that I do listen to for the local programs).

Anyway this national syndicated host was still insisting that Mitt Romney IS a conservative. NOPE.

The government does not have the right to invalidate the terms of a valid contract.

Of course it has taken that right: allowing tenants to not pay rent is invalid and illegal. It attempts to invalidate the terms of a valid contract. But the public is too stupid to realize that and cheers it on.

How about hanging these debts back on the institutions who sold the students their worthless degrees? They wouldn’t be “Needy” if the damn degrees were marketable.

Punish the savers who are not “needy” because they restrained youthful spending. What do they get?

I would start with a gift to those graduates that DON’T have a tattoo. It would send a message to those that do. The subject will be hovering over the next issue and that would be welfare cuts.

AND THE HORSE THEY RODE IN ON!

I used my GI bill until the end and paid the rest, out of pocket.
Where’s mine?

Our son used his GI bill and worked like a dog all year round also he and his wife paid hers off a quickly as they could with every cent they had. She was working two jobs and he is a school teacher way out in the cornfields of Illinois at the time making 30K. Will they be repaid?

Our daughter works full time with a very good job and three kids and a hard-working husband... Now also a student paying out of pocket. Will they be repaid?

I have heard that many of the ‘student loans’ are cash loans to the individual and often spent for ‘spring break in Mexico or a new car... the money was NOT used for education?

FREE MONEY FOR THE WRONG GROUPS.

Ah, RINOmney proves once again that there is no lowest low to which he is willing to go.

Another person to be watched so that when he does assume room temp, his grave can be appropriately perfumed by we millions of non-admirers.

WHO decides “What is Needy”???

Low income people who need their student loans forgiven???

I thought the only reason to even go to college was to get an education that could make you more money.

Perhaps the criteria should be “WHAT MAJOR DID THESE PEOPLE HAVE”???

A major in “Women’s Studies” & Basket Weaving” & Middle Ages dietary arts would all be grounds for denial of any loan ‘forgiveness’ IMO.

I paid EVERY penny of my college costs out of my pocket.

That is an excellent suggestion! Colleges should be co-signers on student debt.

As it is now:

Student: “I want to major in 14th century French poetry.”
College: “Great! Now fill out this financial aid form.”

With your idea in place:

Student: “I want to major in 14th century French poetry.”
College: “Don’t be stupid. Try again, pal.”

How about this, since I paid for my education BY WORKING, how about giving it to me back along with the taxes I paid while going to school? Sounds fair to me. BTW, that would be with interest.

So that means TAX them as income on the amount of debt that is “forgiven”

Or, College:

Well, you can do that, but the job prospects aren't very good. We can loan you a maximum of $5,000 toward that tuition at 14% APR. How do you plan on paying for the rest of it?
