I liked their sausage mcmuffin but they cut back their breakfast hours (used to be all day).
Last week for first time in years I got a Big Mac, fries. and a Coke from drive
through. Not all that good (just under $10). How are they still in business?

Breakfast ok though.Wendy’s has
better burgers and fries.

I was at a Taco Bell once. Two people were running and gunning to stay open. The wait was long.

There was a place to leave comments online.

I highly commended the dedicated employees who cared enough to show up.

Why work when you can make more staying home?
———-
True.

Been unemployed since March 2020. My field is either shutdown (events, travel, tourism, sports, concerts) or so dominated by Indian recruiters and H1Bs that any skilled Americans are not employable. Sure there are a few exceptions, but a vast majority of job openings went to foreigners.

Why would a skilled white-collar of blue-collar worker go back and work at a part-time minimum wage starter job?

Not going to make the $3900 a month I’m getting from Unemployment at McDonald’s or any other job where there are openings - Workforce, Veterans and the official state jobs portal is full of these sub-$15/ hr jobs. Jack-in-the-Box, McDonald’s and other fast-food, entry-level grocery store and retail always hiring and take up perhaps 60% of the weekly state listing. Bureau of Prisons, security and healthcare jobs also remain unfilled.

Interesting. Has a Zoom interview 2 weeks ago about a project in VA that was in desperate need a super. Pay was above scale and the per diem was double normal. Figured it was a cluster kcuf and said no thanks.

No one wants to work anymore at the wages we are offering...There is no such thing as a labor shortage, there are only wage shortages.

Absolutely true. This generation is facing costs their parents and grandparents never had to. They can't afford to live in the town they grew up in, tuition rates are through the roof, their education doesn't prepare them at all for the workforce, and labor rates are intentionally suppressed by a Uniparty government bent on bringing in third worlders.

I gave up long ago listening to self-absorbed owners and managers complaining about staff after they would finally admit to how little they were paying them. They wanted gung-ho rocket scientists at day-laborer wages and couldn't figure out why they had such high turnover.

I've seen employees told they were either going to take the keys to open and lock up (with no additional pay) or leave. Every one of them left.

I work on ERPs - payroll, financials, HR, etc.

Our industry cannot find people to work and manage projects. These kinds of systems are not apps nor cool. But without them governnents and companies cannot operate.

I am retiring and can find no way to pass along 4+ decades of knowledge and wisdom.

If you get a sausage mcmuffin and do the survey on your receipt, you’ll get a buy one-get one coupon for a mcmuffin or quarter pounder. 2 quarter pounders is a half pound.

I don’t know where the profit is in that but the buy-1-get-1 cuts the price in half.

The goal at McDonald’s and other places is to tap that $5-7 burger market as well. But also keep the value menu.

And some company in Chicago bought Whataburger but I think (at least during covid) expanded the hours of their menu to burgers available all day (not just after 10am). I don’t know if they also extended breakfast to 24 hours or not.

I’m a merchandiser for a soda company(not coke) and I keep getting sent to another area to cover when other merchandisers quit. The reason they quit is not because they found a better paying job, but because they can’t handle display builds. The last guy was much larger than I, but couldn’t handle building Snapple displays during the slow season. Yet I, 5’7” and 150lbs handle them just fine.

I am out of my region on this one so I will size it up on day one and do my best to help out.

That is what a dishwasher does.

"Above the order here instructions, the sign read: "We are short-staffed. Please be patient with the staff that did not show up. No one wants to work anymore."

Didn't we read not long ago that McDonald would only consider black folk for management positions..?? Or some such thing...?

Our local Ace Hardware Store is the exact opposite. The owner, Henry, is ALWAYS there and he and his loyal staff know everything. You can’t be in the store 15 seconds without Henry or his staff coming up and asking how your day is going, if you need any help, if they can help you find something. He is absolutely rewarded by the townsfolk for that superior service! I’m amazed at the number of employees Henry has and their loyalty to him. Every time you leave the store, Henry gives you a hearty “Thank you for your business!”

———-
My local Ace Hardware is the same. Can’t be in the store a minute without someone asking if I need assistance. Oh, wait, that’s at SM-Cebu City.

But the Cebu HomeBuilders and CitiHardware here are the same as Lowe’s or Home Depot. Almost impossible to get help quick unless you are a contractor.

Hire conservative kids. Their parents usually instilled a strong work ethic in them.

Neighbor is a manager at a local restaurant.

His place is making money because he only has his best servers working. The others make more money staying at home while the good servers are getting big tips from people thrilled to have a night out.
