“You are cheering for more overbearing, incompetent government.“

Conservatives are making a huge mistake by not recognizing that the police in the end are just government and are typically run by the same type people. They are indeed largely overbearing and incompetent. I’m not talking about individual officers. There are many many good cops but our police departments are just another part of big government. We will never solve these problems if we don’t accept this fact.

Elderly that can’t drive properly aren’t supposed to. They slip through the cracks.

They’re basically disabled. What was this cop’s disability besides criminal negligence?

A lot of stupidity all around.

And the end result is the tax payers are on the hook for another $27 million check.

The cop in question was incompetent?

100%

From my perspective, any cop on that scene was incompetent. They did everything wrong

Most likely not, but there might be a contractual obligation. I assume she took this all into account.

Maybe *you* excuse the elderly that do that. I demand that their keys and license get taken away and they are permanently barred from driving. I also want them to be liable for all damage they caused.

Well, the guy on the other side of the car didn’t do anything wrong.

The (less than articulate) mayor said he received her letter of resignation earlied that morning including the exact time to the minute.

Then after getting questioned (badgered) about her pension, etc. he said he hasn’t accepted her resignation.

Seems to me if he hadn’t accepted her resignation he would have mentioned that when he first said he received her resignation.

Only with extreme misconduct can a pension be taken away from a cop. I believe it is very rare.

Of course, if you have an ex-spouse, all bets are off!

It’s not the tasers. It’s the cops they’re hiring.

Again, we agree.

My point about tazers is that they’re not effective enough in stopping thugs and reducing crime.

It’s clear most thugs know by now that they do NOT have to obey the law and lawful commands by cops.

So what if they get tazed? They will be out thugging again tomorrow.

My point is that tasers increase crime.

The same way a Warthog rolled in on a British personnel carrier in Desert Storm. The same way an F-4 dropped on a US position in Vietnam. The same way Pat Tillman was killed in Afghanistan.

Under stress and in a fight, things go wrong. Maybe she hadn’t been trained that her taser should never be on the same side of her belt as her pistol, etc.

And maybe that azzwipe shouldn’t have fought the cops. Why is that so prevalent with young blacks? He caused this.

I hope she gets somewhere safe fast.

I imagine people are keeping a sharp eye out for her. Not to mention, she'd be tracked down to the ends of the earth.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension identified Potter late Monday as the officer seen in released body-camera footage firing a single round at Wright. Gannon said he made the call to release the footage and said he believed the female officer intended to reach for her Taser, but instead grabbed her handgun, categorizing the incident as an "accidental discharge."
..........

Major dollars are going to change hands when this is all over and settled in the courts, "accidental discharge" or not. JMO
