Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, Police Officer Kim Potter, who fatally shot Black motorist Daunte Wright during traffic stop, has resigned.
The 26-year veteran made the move “in the best interest of the community.”

How could a 26 year police veteran confuse a firearm with a taser?
It’s what they do. Helps with their defense.
Simple rule for miscreants: “COMPLYIN’ MEANS NOT DYIN’!” At least he won’t be remembered as a “b**th” for letting the popo arrest him.

She made a poor judgement error. She has the integrity to admit that and now she will live with that mistake. And yet, society is probably better off for her mistake.
We do have to have accountability on both sides to function peacefully. Unfortunately we live in a time where accountability is not equally applied.
After 40 years of Marxist Policy imposed on Marxist American Cities and Government Employees, how could she not?
I think she deserves to go to court and get some probation or mild jail time for screwing up so epically, but if she gets out she might just want to run for it like Chauvin should’ve.
She was a long-service veteran of the force, a senior officer. Her department training is to carry the Taser on her weak side hip. She screwed up *badly*.
If it was not a police officer but a regular citizen who made this mistake, they’d throw the book at them. I see no reason why this officer should be treated any differently.
More importantly, the fact that they resigned means they can get hired on somewhere else later.
In the video, the taser was on her left side of her duty belt and gun was on the right.
Not being conspiratorial here just wondering.... As long as tasers have been around... Has this sort of error ever happened before? I can say for sure that I’ve never heard of it happening.
How about a redesign of the Tasers so that they don’t have a trigger, but some other method of activation Like a switch on the back.
Shoot gun, pull trigger.
Shoot taser push button.
This isn’t the first time this kind of mistake has led to an unwanted outcome.
True. She committed negligent homicide and any ‘normal’ person would do probably 5-10 years. Anything less would be blatant favoritism.
Her only real defense would be it’s a first offense.
So all that is needed is training, then. She should instinctively reach for the taser if that is what she really wants.

I had the same thought! Wonder if she had been behind a desk for a while and only recently returned to the streets. Maybe new to having a taser and didn’t train properly with it? I am a huge supporter of LEOs but this was an inexcusable incident from a veteran officer, especially in these times!!
If she were 25 years younger, I would take care of it personally with a good spanking and confiscation of her weapons.
Shoot gun, pull trigger.
Shoot taser push button.
“If you meant to tase him, why were you pulling a trigger and not pushing a button?”
