President Donald Trump, the pioneer of Operation Warp Speed, is condemning the FDA's decision to temporarily pull the Johnson & Johnson vaccine from use after rare incidents of blood clotting. He's also accusing the agency of favoring Pfizer.
"The Biden Administration did a terrible disservice to people throughout the world by allowing the FDA and CDC to call a “pause” in the use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. The results of this vaccine have been extraordinary but now it’s reputation will be permanently challenged. The people who have already taken the vaccine will be up in arms, and perhaps all of this was done for politics or perhaps it’s the FDA’s love for Pfizer," Trump released in a statement Tuesday morning.
"The FDA, especially with long time bureaucrats within, has to be controlled. They should not be able to do such damage for possibly political reasons, or maybe because their friends at Pfizer have suggested it. They’ll do things like this to make themselves look important. Remember, it was the FDA working with Pfizer, who announced the vaccine approval two days after the 2020 Presidential Election. They didn’t like me very much because I pushed them extremely hard. But if I didn’t, you wouldn’t have a vaccine for 3-5 years, or maybe not at all. It takes them years to act! Do your testing, clean up the record, and get the Johnson & Johnson vaccine back online quickly. The only way we defeat the China Virus is with our great vaccines!" he continued.
The FDA made the decision early Tuesday morning, but officials say it is a recommendation not a mandate.
"As of April 12, more than 6.8 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen ) vaccine have been administered in the U.S. CDC and FDA are reviewing data involving six reported U.S. cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot in individuals after receiving the J&J vaccine. In these cases, a type of blood clot called cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) was seen in combination with low levels of blood platelets (thrombocytopenia). All six cases occurred among women between the ages of 18 and 48, and symptoms occurred 6 to 13 days after vaccination. Treatment of this specific type of blood clot is different from the treatment that might typically be administered. Usually, an anticoagulant drug called heparin is used to treat blood clots. In this setting, administration of heparin may be dangerous, and alternative treatments need to be given," the FDA said in a statement. "CDC will convene a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) on Wednesday to further review these cases and assess their potential significance. FDA will review that analysis as it also investigates these cases. Until that process is complete, we are recommending a pause in the use of this vaccine out of an abundance of caution. This is important, in part, to ensure that the health care provider community is aware of the potential for these adverse events and can plan for proper recognition and management due to the unique treatment required with this type of blood clot," the statement continues.
Difference is I don’t need the vaccine so you comparison is void.
Also, I take medication because I am trying to alleviate symptoms or get a vaccine to prevent a serious illness or if I am at great risk. Not because everyone else wants me to get it so they feel good.
@7 Thought that myself. I hate the fact that due to the way most official agencies have spread information regarding cv-19 makes my mind think they are conspiracy practitioners. Hate it.
JNJ vaccine has .000000882 probability of getting blood clot, if you are a woman between 18-48.
So you don't believe mRNA is involved in the J&J and AZ vaccines?
You don't know what viruses are. You don't know what vaccines are. You don't know mRNA is...but you keep commenting.
Oh, yes..."surviving"...like spending days, even weeks, deathly ill in bed - far more pleasant than getting stuck with a needle, because they "survive." Spending time in the hospital or ICU - far more pleasant than getting stuck with a needle...because they "survive" the ordeal. Severe lung damage as bad someone who smokes for 50 years...far more pleasant than getting stuck with a needle because they "survive." Getting double lung transplants...far more pleasant than getting stuck with a needle because they "survive." Permanent disabilities of varying degrees...far more pleasant than getting stuck with a needle because they "survive." Etc., etc., etc.
Frankly, I don’t care if you take vaccine or not. But you seem obsessed on preventing OTHERS not exercising their right to get the vaccine. Why do you care so much about others?
Why not post something you are FOR?
And what is the percentage of the cases you are quoting now after many therapeutics are already saving lives? Not worth emergency use vaccines on the entire populace to make everyone feel good about themselves.
Please show me how I am somehow obsessed as you say from my previous posts. Otherwise you are projecting.
I’m with you. Wish he would just keep his mouth shut at time. Leaves me thinking what is President Trump getting from J&J..... He is a business man!
And I am a big time supporter of him, so lay off any negatives. I will disagree with him at times.
Agree!
Show me where I have ever stated that a person does not have the right to choose to get the vaccine. You will not because I never said no one has a right to choose for themselves so please stop your baseless accusation.
Why are you posting so many posts against the vaccine unless you are trying furiously to discourage and scare others?
“The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is based on the virus’s genetic instructions for building the spike protein. But unlike the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, which store the instructions in single-stranded RNA, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine uses double-stranded DNA”
You are the one who does not know of whence you speak. I’m not getting any of them. But J&J is possibly a little safer. But the connected biotech industry, particularly Moderna does not want it out there.
President Trump is for ALL businesses, not just J&J. He does not want J&J to suffer from .000000882 probability of getting blood clot, if you are a woman between 18-48.
All businesses survive by creating products in demand in the market place. What does government create which you have purchased? Yet, government takes a huge chunk of money in the form of taxes. The size of my check for 2020 federal income tax is bigger than my yearly paychecks during first 25 years of my full time jobs.
I’m not old enough to remember, but were people this scared of the Smallpox vaccine? That left a lifelong scar on everyone.
This seems to me to be something that started in the last 20-30 years with the rise of the internet and everyone being an expert on every topic.
But you seem obsessed on preventing OTHERS not exercising their right to get the vaccine
Now you say:
Why are you posting so many posts against the vaccine unless you are trying furiously to discourage and scare others?
I see you have back tracked.
Asking questions and trying to find the logic in all of this is not trying to prevent anyone from exercising their freedom to do what they want. I just can't seem to find many that can support with logic, the widespread distribution of emergency use vaccines, not just for the vulnerable but for everyone now regardless of age or physical health.
Here is a serious question for you: Does it make any sense to you to push nationwide the emergency use vaccination of 12-15 year olds for this virus or anyone under the age of 30 in perfect health especially those that have already had batflu and came thru with no issues?
but are still anti-vaxx nutcases (wait, that’s a redundancy).
*****************************************************
How can you be “anti vaxx nutcases” when no FDA-approved vaccine exists? Maybe you could produce the name of the “vaccine” the FDA has approved? We have a clinical trial given emergency use authorization, but no vaccine. Maybe you should educate yourself before insulting others.
Well, Trump & Levin seem to be on the same page tonight.
Bigger fish to fry than focusing on this distraction...
Trump is so out to lunch on this vaccine crap.
