A police officer in Virginia has been fired after pointing a gun at, and pepper spraying, a black US army lieutenant during a traffic stop.
Army Second Lieutenant Caron Nazario is wearing his uniform in bodycam footage of the incident, filmed in December.

“his seatbelt was still buckled and he was afraid they would shoot him as he was trying to undo it.”
I hadn’t thought about that. Even with the cop’s body cam, he could rationalize it as a good shoot. “I thought he was going for a gun” The driver did the smart thing.
That’s in part because “what to do when stopped” is part of their more extensive driver training.
I agree that there should probably be a common standard here in the states. Of course, we’re more likely to have entitled idiots that think it doesn’t apply to them, too...
The one that gets him pepper sprayed instead of shot. Definitely.
You’re right, that actually took way too long. I thought this was recent and now see it occurred in December of last year. Surely someone looked at the video then? I think a few more people need to be fired for the delayed action. Were they hoping this would get forgotten?
From my understanding, they hit their lights on a dark stretch of road and the guy drove to a well lit place to pull over. Just as police commonly recommend. Seems that that is what put these officers on edge. Sure, the driver could have just complied ... but at what cost? The officers approached the car with guns drawn and telling him to get out. That would be enough to scare anyone ... I don't care what color your skin is.
Since SUVs are the vast majority of vehicles these days and have for more than a decade, I would like to know if these officers conducted ALL traffic stops at gunpoint, if tint made them that nervous.
Absolutely. I fully support law enforcement but this incident is way over the top and frankly pisses me off. A police officer like the one shown should never have a badge and gun.
I was aware of ll you said. I still think there is more.
Your post doesn’t make a lot of sense there. Perhaps you should retype it?
I guess we’ll see ...
The cameras don’t lie. These cops screwed up and they knew it.
“...i expect you are a LEO or retired who liked the power wielded in such a stop.”
LOL, I was in banking and then owned a retail business. AS a young punk kid I was constantly hassled by the police so I would have every reason to be against them.
The Police are under attack in this Country and they have no support from their yellow bellied superiors. People are AFRAID to support any cop because they think BLM or ANTIFA shitheads will be at their door. If I was a cop I’d be nervous about anything I did because I know it will be blown up and misconstrued if there were any way possible to do it.
Freepers don’t care about truth partner when it comes to cops acting up
95% here always go with the cops....I mean they hang on till the bitter ending
Parsing and twisting and denying video and reaching for any branch whatsoever to defend the cop
It’s pathological
Waco biker massacre....ditto
Veteran and wife and dog in Houston ....ditto...some still hang on to that one...those cops were effing thugs
The regarded boy in south Louisiana
The black guy who pulled away....bam bam
The cop who planted the taser in South Carolina
Freepers just can’t help it....it’s nuts to me
I just want the truth ....and sometimes...in fact ...at least 60% it looks like cops were at least somewhat justified at a minimum
But sometimes they are not and many here just can’t deal with that
Granted the industry around black victimhood is daunting
But that shouldn’t be allowed to kill our empirical observation
I’m going to look at the video now and see what I think...
Favorite freeper refrain if all else fails is “ well they had a criminal record or were on drugs so they deserved to be shot or suffocated anyhow”
Logic here is if you don’t respond perfectly to cops...you’re fair game
Like that 14 year old boy...a white boy btw....in Oklahoma recently...nine shots to torso and head....he’d dropped his gun as told and stupidly reached for his cell phone
Lady cop fired taser without warning....of course....and the rambos opened up...about a dozen of them...from 2o yards
Cell phone never broke denim....
14 years old
Freepers applauded
Some of the cops were distraught
That says a helluva lot to me
Jackson Mississippi
I’m driving by front gate tomorrow
Instead of hooah....it’s yo!
What about the Arizona hotel hallway cop murdering that guy
And got off
I wonder what Free Republic thought about that one
That was a blatant cop gone bad kill
Man this forum is way way more pro cop than vice versa
With one exception
When cop love intersects with cops coming for your guns
man i hate bankers... just kidding.
i have a history with LEO... and their approach should have been less escalated through out.
the young army officer was just as wrong in his non compliance as this video shows.

I always wonder whose going to be more surprised when the cops start kicking down Freeper doors to collect their firearms-the Freepers or the Cops. Time will tell.
It is interesting that when it comes to guns it’s a lot of ‘lead first’ talk. If it’s a traffic stop or general police brutality though, it’s ‘give the poor cops a chance will ya’.
Like I said in another thread 95% of cops are stupid as rocks.
This is a case of stupid meets stupider.
When I wore the green among civilians I was on my best behavior as a representative of my service.
Ahole award to army guy.
Assault with a weapon on uniformed members of the US military is TREASON.
King of Stupid award to cop guy.
Stupid+Stupid=Stupid
