However, there are fears that if the US withdraws troops before the conditions on the ground are right -- regardless of the date on the calendar -- there will be a sharp and possibly catastrophic backslide.

"The conditions on the ground are right" - when will that be?

We still have troops stationed in Germany, Italy and Japan, 75 years after the last surrender.

Afghanistan has been at war for centuries and will continue such long after we’ve brought out troops home.
We are there simply to acquire rare minerals.
Bring out troops home now.

I want to be pragmatic. The USA since WWI has gotten very little from those wars and conflicts that actually benefit American interest. I am not a isolationist but what do we have to show for it all as no enemy could dream of what the left has done to push war and ultimately destroy the nation from within as it is right now. Yes, WWII to a certain extent was just as are other conflicts but collectively America usually holds deaths, debt, and scorn while never able to hold on to gains. We spent 20 plus years in War on Terror (whatever that means) and only hold deaths, debt, unsolved /unresolved Islamic enemy that simply regenerates while the sons of the men who fought post 9/11 are eligible to....... fight for fvking feminism? BTW, BLM and Antifa have done more damage to America than AL Queda and Taliban could ever dream of besides killing but if they could they would.

Unless you’re willing to end Islam in Afghanistan

And suppose you WERE willing to do that?

Do you have a theoretical construct of how such a thing would be possible?

People here talk about it as if it's similar to ordering a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It probably isn't.

We ended Naziism. We ended Japanese militarism.

It takes political will that is completely lacking today. But similar will did at one time exist in the USA.

What we should have done is taken the southwest of the country. It has not many people, and many natural resources.

Turn it into the 51st state and fill it with Christian Americans willing to settle the new frontier.

Well then if they care so much about women’s rights in Muslim countries, they should literally be begging us to invade Iran, instead of sucking up to them, like Biden is.

‘Women’s rights’ in Trashcanistan ain’t worth a single US service member’s life or a single taxpayer dollar.
Bring ‘em all home.

We have spend billions promoting women's rights in Afghanistan and it has been a complete wast of time and treasure.

How do you promote women's rights in the Islamic Republic of Afg when the two perspectives are incompatible and mutually exclusive? It's another hopeless wish pushed by the ineffective State Department ensconced in their Kabul palace.
