What Remains of Conservatism?
The Imagitive Conservative ^ | 04-04-2021 | Bradley J. Birzer

What remains of traditional conservatism? Should we concede defeat and see the great conservative figures of the past as women and men of beauty who had their say but who are now relegated to some obscure museum of lost humanist causes? No! To my mind, these voices have never been more needed and more relevant

Nothing remains of the movement except for a scattered few who dig talking about tax rates and how best to cut social security benefits.

Personally, if I could change my name from ConservativeInPa to NationalPopulistInPa I would do it. (I don’t want to change my name again. I already did that once.) I am finished with being just a conservative. The times have changed. I am fine with being a nationalist and a populist since both share conservative principles.

“the populist desire (left and right) for a single, national community in which all persons and all ideas and all social norms are subordinate to the whole.”

Exactly which populists on the right desire this?

The deterioration of true conservatism went rapidly down, when ex Trotskyite James Burnham, who perhaps never rid himself of some of that philosophical poison, became the guru of WF Buckley and those involved in National review and ultimately most Republicans.

Now? We have the managerial revolution in control of our political class and American corpoations.

Our only hope for a resurrection of true Conservatism is to immerse our selves in its history from ancient times and its wisdom

The Nationalist/Populists argue that most conservatives have largely conserved......nothing. I’m afraid I agree.

Michael Medved, one of this biggest RINO frauds on radio who calls himself a “conseervative” recently had an article at his website called “Populism is not Conservative”.

I would argue with him that being a globalist open border sellout shill is not conservatism either.

Traditional conservatives passed away. They left the movement in the hands ofvestablishment stooges who mouthed words they never fought for. Just remember boehner and ryan and the budget deals where kicking the can down the road was their way to hide their raging liberalism.

And we bought it. Hated it. Hated always losing.

Then...Trump.

I used to listen to Medved to catch the latest twist and turn of the RINO party line. But he's no longer even a RINO because he endorsed Biden for president and Jay Inslee for Washington state governor.

However, he's been replaced out here by a true patriot, Sebastian Gorka.

“Now? We have the managerial revolution in control of our political class and American corpoations.”

How exactly are Burnham, Buckley, et alia responsible for this?

Then ..... Trump.

And the voters gave Republicans the House, the Senate and the presidency. That’s when we found out they were fake and didn’t pass any of the things that they have been campaigning on for years if not decades.

Unfortunately, a few of the half decent dems, remember the tax rates and cutting SS benefits as the focal points.

I agree as well. I am for small, limited government that acts on national interest. I believe is conserving the integrity of our border. I believe in conserving our national identity, culture and language. I believe in unabashed American greatness that makes the lives of all Americans better. I could go on, but the method to achieve these things are often very conservative. It seems like all the neocons and chamber of commerce so-called conservatives have lost the vision ... the destination that conservative government is supposed to bring.

Can a small, limited government conserve our national culture?
