Arizona has signed a new law that would prohibit federal gun laws that would violate the Second Amendment.
The HB2111 legislation was signed into law Tuesday by Arizona Republican Gov. Doug Ducey, ensuring rights of gun owners are protected from potential overreaching gun laws sought by President Joe Biden's administration.
The law seeks to prohibit police and sheriffs from enforcing new federal gun laws, which critics say will undermine the rule of law and discourage law enforcement officers from enforcing federal gun laws to protect the public. Critics also say it is an unconstitutional measure that will cost taxpayers to defend in court.

“Uniparty Kabuki theater”
Shouldn't they instead be enjoying the erosion of fundamental rights for which they voted?
Regards,
There are two power structures in the US - the federal executive and the states.
Not only is it older, the states command far more resources and manpower than the executive.
The constitution grants power over individual citizens but no power over state authority - the courts can only rule on the constitutionality of a law it can’t make an unconstitutional act legal.
Some states aren’t worth hogpiss but some have power and the will to use it - those with the resources and power can defy federal decrees and there is little the malefactors of DC can do about it.
Exactly. While I welcome these laws they are half baked solutions at best. These questions are obvious and the fact they are not being addressed makes me think these laws are quietly intended to placate the base and amount to little more than feel good legislation. We must expect and demand total nullification of ALL federal gun laws starting with the NFA and the GCA. We also must insist these laws make attempts at enforcement of federal gun laws by any federal agent a felony with mandatory prison time upon conviction.
Lets face reality. Local sheriffs and state law enforcement agencies are not the ones using federal gun laws to terrorize law abiding citizens. The BATFE and the FBI are the problem and they must be stopped by state law.
> How do Arizonians justify to themselves having voted for a president...
We didn’t. It just got counted that way.
How could this be challenged in court?? How can the feds make a case that people not on their payroll are required to help enforce their laws?
makes me feel so much better investing in a small house in Arizona as a safe have, should I need it.
Now, if I could get my wife used to the idea of snow now and then in winter.
“How do Arizonians justify to themselves having voted for a president and a party which are attempting to enact laws violating the Constitution”
They did nothing of the kind.
The NFA sections on suppressors and Short Barrel Rifles have always pissed me off. Let’s see a state pass a law to bypass those ridiculous rules.
It goes like this—>>
Alter Constitution = 3/4th of states ratify amendment.
The STATES decide, not the executive, courts or congress.
If a state decides an EDICT or DECREE is unconstitutional, and they have the power and resources to do so, they can prevent the fed from enforcing edicts, decrees, executive orders, etc etc etc in their states by FORCE.
States are the last bulwark against federal tyranny - there are 50 of them and they are SOVEREIGN.
Morons from pigstys like Europe don’t know it but US governors are not representatives of the central government they are independent leaders of SOVEREIGN states with their own government structures, funding and armed forces.
That’s why it is called a UNITED STATES.
Your flat denial does not constitute an explanation / argument.
Would you care to elaborate on that? Are you saying that Arizonians DIDN'T vote for the Gun-Grabber-in-Chief? Or are you saying that what Biden proposes is NOT a violation of 2A?
Regards,
I said this on another thread so I’ll repeat it here. None of this matters unless there are penalties attached. It needs to have teeth. Pass a state law that makes any employee of the state civilly liable for cooperating with federal law enforcement on these questions. If a county sheriff or local police takes part in a federal raid of dubious merit, make all of those who participated liable in civil court for damages. Only then will the state agencies (LEO or otherwise) think twice about federal interdiction/cooperation within their states.
Not saying there is no place for federal law enforcement on key matters, just saying you have to start drawing lines in the sand. Choose a battle and fight it.
Didn’t south Carolina and a gew other states try this in 1861? I mean, what the north was doing was definitely unconstitutional. Its a slippery slope no matter what issues you have with the federal government. Also remember the last time and every time the feds stepped in a innocent people die.. ruby ridge, waco, amond bundy, the whiskey rebellion..
Even if there wasn’t a shred of suspicion about the election, Biden won by default only- The Libertarians and Republicans carried the majority of voters in Arizona and none of them voted to curb gun rights.
I know that’s not how it works in reality, which is why Libertarians piss me off by handing the state to Biden. In their misguided hearts, they think they’re fighting the good fight.
In the end, there is still an audit going on of the voting process, and lack of signature integrity in an election Biden supposedly “won” by the slimmest of margins.
Ultimately, I fear Arizona is on the way out of the Red column for good, after all we’re being inundated with Californians, our border is being left wide open, and there is a powerful leftist movement within the state - some of them coopting the McCain faction. But, we’re not there yet.
We didn’t vote for Democrats. They cheated like hell. Get lost.
We have mail in ballots here . Now we have 2 Rat Senators. The Rats have been fighting like Hell to stop an audit of he last election and ballots from that election have been discovered in dumpsters. In other words Arizona did Not vote for these measures, It was stolen.
