House Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) announced Wednesday that the House will vote on the D.C. statehood bill for the second time two weeks from now. Although it is certain to pass the Democrat-controlled House, its fate is uncertain in the tied Senate with GOP members opposing the measure.
Uh, no.
Totally unconstitutional, not that the rule of law matters anymore.
Against the Constitution.
But then so was the Kenyanesian Usurpation.
Gee, why didn’t they do this when Obumbles was President?
Sure, make one of the most inept and corrupt regions a state as PR is next of course. If they could get away with it, they would add a dozen more states not that states matter anymore but to expand the provincial Fedgov and its swamp oligarchy. I never thought America could fall so fast from within. Our enemies are making plans and sharpening knives.
Watch other states start voting on secession. No state is going to put up with a sh!thole like DC being the be all end all king of all 51 states.
If they give statehood to the Swamp, the nation’s Capitol needs to be moved to a none Socialist Democrat state. Anywhere would be better than the District of Corruption. That’s already the Theft Capitol of The United States.

SCOTUS
so-called Rep. Holmes hasn’t done a damned thing to help the people of DC get out from a growing wave of drugs, killings, and general crime.
She runs around town yelling “Statehood” instead of “Jail the criminals”.
She’s a New York import and she had a questionable background up there.
She wants to be able to claim that she ruined two major cities before she dies.
I want her death before she can do this. At her age, a stroke, heart attack, cancer, or telling the truth would kill her. Alex, I approve of any or all of these and I’ll donate $1.00 to her burial cost in the local landfill.
Trying to kill what’s left of the Constitution. May as well vote for a monarchy next.
There is a constitutional amendment that already gives DC votes in the electoral college (2 for the Senators they don’t have, and 1 for House member they don’t have). When DC becomes a State, it will have those 3, plus the 3 that come from statehood.
Quite a bit of representation for the tiniest state.
What is funny is The DC Reps can’t vote for this!!
DC only has the *one* in the House. If the Senate passes this, (and at least they’re not carving the District into, say, a dozen states), they gain two Senators. Hopefully the Supremes will grant a stay pending repeal of the 23rd Amendment.
Senate will not pass this.. Democrats don’t want egg on their face.
I think West Virginia’s Manchin will vote against it, and there might be another one or two Democratic Senators who don’t agree to this.
It would serve everyone better if states wrote a 3-line legislation piece...voicing the need to give back all of DC territory to Maryland, unless federal property exists upon it.
I don’t think it will come to secession but I think we will see more 10th Amendment loosening of federal power. Fedgov is too big and too intrusive.
How about any state that has legalized Marijuana?
Better to dissolve DC. Congress can meet virtually from their offices in their home state capitals. Other departments and activities can be distributed elsewhere.
