Strike Out Major League Baseball
American Thinker.com ^ | April 6, 2021 | J. Robert Smith

Woke pro baseball, strike one. A cowardly MLB commissioner, strike two. Corporate sanctimony, strike three. Major League Baseball pulling the 2021 All-Star game and this year’s amateur draft from Atlanta is batter out, game over.

As a lifelong baseball fan, I take no pleasure in declaring that I won’t spend another penny on the Grand Old Game this season. And that might turn into many seasons. The MLB is against Georgia’s sensible election reforms. Election reforms that better ensure honest, fairer contests are critically more important than my pleasure. They should be more important than yours.

Over the weekend, President Trump called for boycotts. As usual, Trump hit the nail on the head. Per Fox News, April 3:

Trump asserted that MLB’s leadership was "afraid of the Radical Left Democrats," claiming the party pressured the league to relocate its mid-summer game because of Georgia’s new election law, recently signed by Republican Gov. Brian Kemp.

The MLB and corporations that Democrats enlist or strongarm to inflict pain on Georgia citizens need to have the hurt put on them. Our money is our power and we need to leverage it fully. Note that if Democrats can punish Georgians for the “offense” of restoring elections integrity, they can and will do the same to us in our states for whatever reasons they warrant. It’s not a matter of if, but when.

The elections reform measure passed by the Georgia legislature and signed by Governor Brian Kemp is modest reform. But Democrats adamantly oppose honest elections. How do we know this?

The 2020 elections travesties in battleground states (Georgia included) and H.R.1, which Newt Gingrich has accurately labeled “For the Corrupt Politicians Act,” declares so.

I used to be a HUGE Astros fan. I quit watching after the strike in the MIDDLE of the season... with the Astros in 1st place.

I never went back.

Now, baseball is mostly just annoying banter on ESPN that causes me to immediately change the channel.

Good points. I struck out MLB and Coke last weekend. I only hope and pray that so did millions of other people.

MLB is dying in the USA. They don’t care if you watch or not. It’s all about opening China.

I think the response to MLB, Coke, Delta, etc., should be “ So you think black people aren’t smart enough to obtain an ID, isn’t that racist?”

And to CBS and all the woke sponsors, why are they televising in the Masters?

NBA basketball is huge in China, but baseball isn’t. Very few people play it - unlike Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea. They have been trying for years to gin up interest in the sport in China but I haven’t seen much evidence that has worked.

Isn’t it called the MLBLM now. It should be.

Time for Corporate Sports to be done away with.

Reminder: Watching major league baseball on TV supports this cr@p too.

I used to be a HUGE Astros fan. I quit watching after the strike in the MIDDLE of the season... with the Astros in 1st place. I never went back.

I quit baseball during that strike as well, but it was not intentional. When the strike ended, I tried to start watching again, but I no longer found the game interesting. I didn't get back into it until around 2015, and I really loved watching it again. I watched nearly every Astros game from then on. However, I started losing interest again after the Astros cheating scandal, and then last year MLB became MLBLM. I did not watch any games during the lame COVID season.

I am now completely done with baseball and all other professional sports. A sport or corporation interfering in the lawmaking process is unacceptable. I used to also enjoy the Olympics, but now that they allow competitors who are supposed to represent the USA use their time to protest the USA, I won't be watching that again either.

Sports were supposed to be an escape from the rest of the BS I have to deal with. Now it is just extra BS for me to deal with. I will do better things with my time than spending 3 hours per game watching something that pisses me off.

lol You joined FR a WEEK before I did. :-)

I still watch and enjoy the NFL and golf. Also, most college sports. But, they’re all trying hard to alienate me.

After the strike, interest in Cal Ripken’s record run is what brought interest in the game back. Next, EVERY game became televised, so no game is special any more. There is no special player or “must-see” game that can bring back the game from overexposure and wokeism.

Turned on a game, saw BLM on the pitcher’s mound, and turned off MLB for good

Got an idea I am trying to get some traction with. Vote for the worst statistical player at every position in the american league and then vote for all atlanta braves players at every position in the national. then they can complain about the vote getting “corrupted”
