Just the other day I was posting elsewhere about someone complaining about “food deserts” in the inner city.
I said they could blame the DAs that decriminalize shoplifting for that. Most shoplifting happens in the inner city and when losses exceed profits the store closes. Likewise in places where peaceful protesting has burned down all the supermarkets the chains will not rebuild for that very reason.
The left: preening for doing good while actually doing evil. Very evil.

City of Detroit until not long ago had no supermarkets because the losses to shoplifting were ridiculously high.
Many years ago when I started college there my first exit from the supermarket I was surrounded by unthreatening but insistent kids (9-10-11-12 or so) all saying “just the receipt.” “all I want is the receipt.”
They took shoppers’ receipts into the store and went up and down the aisles matching items and then left saying “I paid for these, here is my receipt.”
Went downhill for years after that.
Such as breaking a glass bottle or two of purple grape juice onto a display and this distracted employees from seeing 5 or 6 kids with stolen high cost items gathered in another aisle until they were running out the front door at top speed to a waiting car to rush away.
The United States. The place where children are raped and killed.
Getting this message south of the border would do much to alleviate this surge.
