Democrats pushing cancel culture are about to cost a county that overwhelmingly voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 election a massive $100 million.
Officials from Cobb County, the Georgia county that was set to host the 2020 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, said they will lose more than $100 million after the league pulled the game and draft out of the state over new election laws passed in the state and signed into law by the governor.
Holly Quinlan, president and CEO of Cobb Travel and Tourism, said that the “estimated lost economic impact” for the county was more than $100 million.
“This event would have directly impacted our county and the state, as visitors spend their dollars on local accommodations, transportation, entertainment and recreation, food and retail throughout the county,” Cobb County Travel and Tourism said. “This would have been a big boost to Cobb businesses and help with recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.”
WSB-TV reported: “The bureau said the 8,000-plus hotel rooms contracted for the game that will now not be needed will have a negative impact on the county’s hospitality industry, further delaying recovery from the pandemic.”

On the same note, every contract with major league sports is going to have "Propaganda Clauses" that include penalties for when the league decides to change venues for propaganda reasons.
Can you imagine the legal scrambling going on right now in cities with future All-Star games?
Just turn the hotels into homeless shelters or illegal alien homes and collect the necessary funds to run them from the feds. Or just have the $100M siphoned from the mega-trillion COVID relief bills.
Lowers the risk, too. Fed money is a guaranteed paycheck.
/s I wish
I live in GA, and Cobb county can kiss my lily white backside.
Don’t worry. They’ll make that up in the next stimulus.
I guess I can enjoy a little schadenfreude over the fact that Cobb County got screwed after they screwed over the country with their fraud operation.
No problem for the county.... Just sign a contract with Biden’s criminal empire. If they are paying 86.9 million to put illegals in hotels and provide for “needed services” for them they can just put in a contract with the County to house 1600 illegals and viola’ they get over 100 million of our taxpayer dollars!
MLB is never going to sign a stupid contract like that. The economic impact from these events doesn’t come from the sports league itself, but from all the visitors who travel to the event. MLB doesn’t generate $100 million of its own revenue for the All-Star Game, so why would they sign a contract exposing them to a lawsuit over $100 million in alleged losses?
There is no question the viewership will be down, its just how far down they will be.
Baseball should start a task force to assist in obtaining IDs and not grand stand.
Who gives a great big flying F?
Texas is my COUNTRY
I doubt it would have come close to generating $ 100 million. Promoters of sports events, arenas and stadiums always inflate these numbers dramatically so they can push them through, often at taxpayer expense. An example would be the promotions for the Super Bowl, some nonsense about 1 billion people worldwide watching it. Most of the 300 million Americans don’t watch it so you have to come up with 900 million overseas. The Super Bowl usually begins at 6:30 EST which means it is 12:30 am in continental Europe and a workday morning in Asia. Just how many among these soccer fans is going to either delay going to work or stay up half the night watching an American game?
I live in this county and am more and more regretting the decision. We have great friends here and my kids have 4 years to go until graduation. Thankfully the school my kids go to isn’t fully an indoctrination station yet. We are friends with the Principle at the school and is a hard core conservative. That person is saying we’ve got maybe 3-4 years before that particular school is completely woke.
As for the voting East Cobb is a cesspool of liberals. I used to run a business there but have ceased operations in that area. I now operate in the N. Georgia mountain area and then SE of Atlanta. Truly conservative areas and I tend to get along with those people more. Encountering a liberal we raise the prices by another 20%, if we get the job then it’s worth the hassle.
Thanks, Stacy and Raphael!
I find it interesting that MLB had no problem with cheating, they only objected to the state taking steps to stop cheating. It tells you a lot about MLB.
bump
When the Super Bowl was held in the new (unnecessary) Giants Stadium in NJ, local businesses complained that they were hounded by the NFL for using the trademarked words “Super Bowl” in any advertising; eventually local municipalities sued because they were stuck with piles of bills for added police and such and never made any money out of it.
That is why many cities have no interest in hosting professional sports teams anymore; there is no upside to them.
As our standard of living declines, fewer and fewer people have time or money for the bread-and-circuses; only a few co-workers follow baseball, and they are all around 60 years old.
Good! Hopefully they won’t be able to afford the ten dollar a gallon gas Biden is giving them and they have to walk.
