Georgia House Votes To Strip Delta Of $35 Million Tax Credit For Flipping On Election Law Support

The Georgia state House passed an amendment Wednesday that would strip Delta Air Lines of a multimillion-dollar tax break after the company blasted the state’s new election laws.

Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed into law last week a bill overhauling his state’s election procedures designed to increase security and address issues that surrounded the 2020 election. Delta initially supported key measures of the legislation after it was signed, then backtracked days later amid calls for boycotts pushed by left-wing publications.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian said the new election law “does not match Delta’s values.” Republicans in the state House, angered by Bastian’s sudden flip on the election overhaul, hit back at the company by voting to strip it of a jet fuel tax break worth over $35 million a year, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Perhaps they will rethink this whole thing in time, in other words, maybe they were Delta bad hand? That bad hand was in the form of uninformed corporate officers, who are really children who have not done their homework. Common nowadays.

I used to only fly Delta. Now I don't fly at all, because I refuse to be treated the way passengers are treated.

So I guess I can't boycott or anything.

And they can’t threaten to relocate because basically they can’t.

finally a group of republicans are putting their actions to work in a very serious way. Instead of Boohooing all over town about the meanies in the democratic party, they are fighting back and using the power that they have at hand.

Good for Georgia Republicans.

This isn't cancel culture, this is government explicitly trying to punish a private entity for their clearly legal speech.

Corporations wielding millions to influence campaigns and politics - they have a PAC for that and this is a campaign finance violation.

All is fair in love and war. Delta got political and picked a side, and this is a war.

Ed and Anna don't even live in Georgia. He recently bought a swanky 7.5M super-condo at the Ritz-Carlton on Singer Island, not far from Rush's compound. In fact I think Rush's first Florida manse was on Singer Island.

What about Delta’s free speech rights?
This isn’t cancel culture, this is government explicitly trying to punish a private entity for their clearly legal speech.

exactly right!

and the Republicans have every right to strip them of their tax break.

Delta (Coke, Gillete) wants to meddle in Woke politics, they are free to do so. But like their own expression, the other side has the same rights.

Who knows if the Georgia election legislation is even going to fix anything, anyway? All that’s happened so far is that the Peach State has given the Presidency and the Senate to the Dems.

Now, there’s some kabuki theater and we’re supposed to care, or even trust Georgians?

Let’s see who replaces Kemp, and we’ll know where Georgia stands.

“Delta CEO Ed Bastian said the new election law “does Delta CEO Ed Bastian said the new election law “does not match Delta’s values.”

Again I ask, does Delta require me to show photo ID to board its planes? If so, does that also “not match Delta’s values?”

All is fair in love and war.

One would think the tax breaks were originally passed because the legislature thought they would be good for the citizens of GA.

Do they think the original benefits are gone or are they willing to hurt their citizens to punish a political opponent?

The GOP needs to realize that these large corporations aren’t friends of freedom, let alone the Republican party and adjust their policies accordingly.
