The Left Is Eating Its Own: The Incredible Reason Activists Don't Want School Renamed After Obama

Progressive leftists across the country are demanding that schools named after people who don’t pass their purity tests get new monikers. But in Waukegan, Illinois, they’re having a difficult time finding a suitable alternative.

Two committees comprised of students, staff, and those in the community were tasked with renaming the Thomas Jefferson Middle School and the Daniel Webster Middle School, the first because he was a slave owner and the latter because he supported slavery.

During a school board meeting on Tuesday to discuss some of the finalists for the Thomas Jefferson Middle School, immigration activists expressed their disapproval over one of the finalists: former President Barack Obama.

"I will not be part of renaming a school after someone who did not and does not represent the undocumented community," said District 60 school board member Edgar Castellanos. Castellanos said he came to the United States undocumented as a child.

Waukegan activist Julie Contreras works with a group that runs shelters for undocumented children at the U.S./Mexico border.

She said former President Obama failed to deliver on promises to help the immigrant population.

Contreras, who leads United Giving Hope, is organizing protests against naming the school for the Obamas.

"From the time Barack Obama became President until 2017 when he left, he today is still the highest ranking president with deportations in our nation," Contreras said. "We feel that Barack Obama did disservice to us. He denied us, and he didn't stop the deportations, the way he promised." […]

Members of the area's Latinx community held a protest outside the meeting's doors Tuesday night.

"If you're removing the name of Thomas Jefferson - one oppressor - the name of Obama is another oppressor and our families do not want to see that name," Contreras said. (ABC 7)

So now, despite being America's first black president, Obama is considered an "oppressor," not woke enough to have a school named after him.

Perfection is the enemy of excellence.

Perfectionists don’t want a man seated on the supreme court because he has been accused of trying to feel up a girl at a party in high school.

Even if he did it, it’s irrelevant. You might as well ding him for having use diapers at an early age or wetting the bed.

Latin X is the new all encompassing woke term that includes ALL genders.

Before there was Latina (female) and Latino (male).

This radicalism and wokeness that we are seeing right now reminds me of Maximilien François de Robespierre (1758-1794), who was the most significant leader of the French Revolution’s radical period.

At his peak, many considered Robespierre the revolution’s greatest dictator, the driving force behind the Committee of Public Safety (CPS) and the Reign of Terror. Obsessed with virtue and incorruptibility, disinterested in material gain and distractions, Robespierre was a man entirely dedicated to the revolution.

Robespierre was an avid believer in democracy, equality and the ideas of Jean-Jacques Rousseau. In his first months in the Convention, Robespierre expressed his opposition to slavery in the French colonies, to a declaration of revolutionary war in Europe, to the use of capital punishment and the excessive use of violence. But like the revolution itself, his views would change and radicalized with time.

His ideas, actions and leadership played a critical role in bringing on the Reign of Terror where thousands were sent to the guilotine. During his peak, Robespierre could be as ruthless as he was single-minded. He used the CPS and the organs of the Terror to eradicate many of his rivals, most notably Georges Danton (April 1794). On his way to the guillotine, Danton predicted that Robespierre would soon be following him – and so it proved to be.

Robespierre’s fall from grace was the product of several miscalculations. By mid-1794, Robespierre was unpopular both with his fellow deputies and many Parisians, a fact suggested several assassination plots against him. Robespierre’s attempt to create an artificial religion, the Cult of the Supreme Being, with himself at the helm, invited accusations of megalomania.

Finally, A loose coalition began plotting to purge Robespierre before he could purge them.

The end came on July 27th 1794 when Robespierre and his followers were cornered in the Hôtel de Ville. Shot through the jaw, Robespierre was hauled away and guillotined the next day. In other words, the revolution ate its own.

That’s what will happen to the leaders of any radicals in the end.

Castellanos said he came to the United States undocumented as a child.

So when did his criminal parents get him documented? It might be time for him to return to his home country to explore his roots.

Funny thing about communists —

When they run out of enemies...

...they never really run out of enemies.

The name on the door is not important.

What is important is what goes on behind that door..................

I am confused.
Why SHOULD invading barbarians, er, “the undocumented community” be represented by anyone, anywhere except in their home countries?
They are not citizens. They don’t belong here.
We need to harden our hearts to pharaonic levels and throw the all out.

RE: Have the Asians weighed in?

I don’t think most of them care HOW the school is named, they just want top notch education and just by observing what’s happening here, they’re going to avoid schools like these like crazy.
