The notification, when it arrived, seemed innocuous enough. It appeared, on first glance, to be an email notification of some change of status regarding my credit card, obtained many years ago through the Chase Bank. Normally, I don’t even read such notifications. Life is too short.
But I happened to glance over this one, and I realized that this one I should read. Basically, it said Chase was cancelling my card. This was not my personal credit card but my business credit card through my company D’Souza Media. No reason was given for the cancellation.
I realized right away that this might be a politically motivated decision. After all, I have had the card for years. I pay my bills every month, so chronic lateness was not an issue. (Besides, credit card companies prefer people to pay late, so that they can charge them usurious rates of interest.) Moreover, my company has a stellar credit history, having been in operation for many years.
But it’s possible there was a good reason to cancel my card that I couldn’t think of. So I called Chase, and the representative informed me that she was puzzled, too. She could find no reason listed in the internal records. All she could say was that the direction had come from senior management in the bank’s main office.

I had a problem with my Chase credit card. Calling Chase and complaining is a waste of time. Their customer service representatives understand English, but they cannot speak English. They called me back and left a message. I listened to the message over and over but I could not understand one word of what she said. Unfortunately there are not very many banks to chose from.
I’ve had a visa card for forever. But twice in the past year someone has managed to get my number & use it fraudulently. I know that’s not Chase’s fault, & they didn’t give me any issues with removing the bad charges. I’m just so fed up with these people & their political bias.
I just saw this regarding a Bank of America card advertised on Babylon Bee:
Maybe it’s time to switch.
This will bite Chase in the ass,eventually...CHASE,WELLS FARGO,BANK OF AMERICA have given money to Planned Parenthood...They toss gun owners and now D’Souza...When the truth hits about PP and it’s genocidal agenda against black america, and minority women realize they can sue anyone who helped PP,these banks will be screaming .......
they did you a favor
I plan on writing to Chase and asking why his card was cancelled. I also plan on telling them that a “we cannot comment on another account” answer is the same as saying you cancelled it because management disagrees with his positions. If that is the case, then I would like Chase to close my accounts, too.
It’s time for “woke” companies to see that mixing business and politics has repercussions. I’m also tired of seeing interracial and gay couples in TV ads by the same “woke” companies. If they want to show interracial couples in a proportion that actually exists, that’s fine. Is there one network TV show that doesn’t have a gay couple in it? I’m tired of explaining to my grandkids why two men/women are kissing in a prime time TV show.
Very strong move.
Thank you.
Banking is as much a public accommodation as a water fountain or a bus. Absent disruptive or criminal activity, or possibly credit issues, the provider (Chase) does not have the ability to deny access.
After all, isn’t the ability to use banking services at least as important as the need to force a baker to produce a gay wedding cake?
Unless you need the ability to do banking in a large geographical area where the presence of many branches that represent your primary bank are needed, you do have an alternative. It is called your hometown bank. It is a good thing to bank where you live as it supports the community.
Already did this with my Chase card based on a previous anti-conservative position taken by Chase. Now have a Discover card with similar features, better rewards, and no hefty annual fee.
Now I gotta get around to terminating Comcast.
My friend who is a Vietnam vet with three sons who served in the Navy, and I, had a sudden cancellation happen a few years ago. Chase said during Michigan’s biggest downturn (Granholm was Gov.) that our cards were suddenly cancelled. Neither of us overspent or failed to pay balances on time. We could pay back at the same monthly payments for any outstanding money owed but then that was it.
They said “So many houses are being foreclosed on in Southeastern Michigan that we decided to cut off accounts there. We have the legal right to do that at any time.” Guilt (or poverty?) by association. We didn’t have a foreclosure.
Chase doesn’t like doing business with people of color.

Yep, not many good options these days.

I wonder ... what if you asked them “if it was because I am black?” and observe their response?
<>It struck Debbie and me with the force of epiphany that this is where we seem to be heading. De facto segregation, not de jure segregation. And segregation not based on race but based on political viewpoint. It might seem overdramatic to say that Republicans and conservatives are the new blacks, but Republicans and conservatives are now treated in “woke” America with the same derision, contempt, and second-class citizenship that blacks were in the first part of the previous century.<>
It’s all about the power of defining what is “Controversial”, since Corporations want to avoid controversy at all costs.
A buddy of mine who is a remodeling contractor has had a banking relationship for 25 years. They just cut off his credit. Zero late or missed payments. Probably because he’s a white guy.
Last week he put his business in his wife’s name.
