Yes a garden is great. I noticed my basil has sprouted in a pot. I put out seeds from 2018 to see if they would come up. I guess they are OK.
😆 I love those!
Due to high demand, they are predicting a seed shortage this year.

Vendors are telling retailers, the initial seed displays of 2021, will not be refilled as the season goes on.
I mostly got it from just looking at youtube videos and pics of plans. Went out and bought all the stuff and put it together. Only thing I couldn’t do was drill the holes in the 4” pvc piping for the pots. Too hard and could easily break a wrist if you’re not careful. Had my hubby do it. Total cost was probably $200-$300 (bought with my first covid stimulus) with all the pvc, glue, the pump, the pots you put your plants in, the nutrients for the bucket to feed the plants, etc. I have found that using the nutrient solution is great for other plants as well. I’ve been saving all my old folgers plastic coffee cans with the lids to use hydroponically. Thyme grows REALLY well in the folgers cans, not so well in the system itself with the moving water. It seems to prefer the stagnant water, rather than the flowing water. Basil, on the other hand, REALLY likes the flowing water. It’s all been a total experiment that I have thoroughly enjoyed this past year. Hubby says were eating expensive lettuce, I say it’s pesticide free! HAHA! I plan to experiment with a row of strawberries this year. Here’s a link to a short video I made last spring when it was first getting going: https://youtu.be/Du-jTSYr3IA
Last year, we were able to find all kinds of canning supplies up here, near the Canada border. Seems as if small/rural towns didn’t get the memo. :)
Here’s a different link when I first made it, that shows the system itself in a bit better detail: https://youtu.be/7eavvnKP7_k
I have found wide mouth quarts at both Runnings and Wal-Mart for about $12 per case.
Lids and bands are not to be seen but these are an option.
Tattler Reusable Canning lids.

I have some jars of applesauce I canned with them that I have been saving as test jars, and after 12 years now, the lids are still sealed and the applesauce is still good.
I want to invest in those Tattler lids, too. Thanks for the reminder.
Here’s a cool site for Mason Jar related things - that you may or may not actually NEED - but can get your gears turning. Not sure if you saw it this morning at our other site:

That’s awesome. It’s a nice way to have it both ways. And you giving tomatoes to your neighbors is incredibly kind.
30 minutes ago I planted four pots with grape tomato seeds saved from last fall. One plant is far more than I need, so if they all come up and produce, I’ll be begging the old folks to take some. Those aren’t part of the 16 full size I’ll plant in the garden plot.
Wow. That is really great!
LOL
I am also shopping there. I started shopping there last spring because they had plenty of tp and no limits. They have been mask optional. And, come to find out, they have better prices than WallyWorld.
Unlike WallyWorld, they have not given zillions of dollars to blm.
Yes ma’am.
Been growing most of my groceries for a long time. :)
My little town is on the end of a dead end road. Our gas prices went up 100% since January 20.
Yep lumber prices, have for the moment squelched plans to add an outbuilding to the homestead.
