After the Trump administration and then-Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin put together what was hailed as the fastest delivery of stimulus payments in history, the Biden administration is receiving criticism for a slow delivery from its $1.9 trillion spending package passed earlier this month.
And the criticism is coming from House Democrats, ( The Hill reported), which is pinning blame on the IRS and Social Security Administration (SSA) holdovers from the Trump administration.
The payments most delayed are individuals already on government assistance, The Hill reported.
[snip]Many people who receive Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Railroad Retirement Board or Veterans Affairs benefits — and don’t have to file tax returns — still haven’t gotten their third stimulus checks nearly two weeks after Biden signed the legislation.

Mine actually came much faster this time and direct deposit for once. 🤨
He’s doing the best that he can.
It takes a while when you work 1 hour a day.
Are you on government assistance?
Has the government started sending the mail out checks yet????
Lol. See tagline.
We had to file a tax return to get ours...didn’t need to file otherwise.
I got the China Virus check right away, but my IRS refund is being held up because of their focus on the “freebie”.
I saw somewhere it may be until summer before those go out.
They accepted my return on Feb 28.
They must have figured those stacks based on the thickness of a single bill. In real life, they don’t lay that flat and the stacks would be much higher.
I look at that graphic and see that Biden is seriously talking about 6 trillion in deficit spending this year. This is going to be real, real, bad.
but the proportions wouldn’t change.
The drug dealers want their money.
“Many people who receive Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Railroad Retirement Board or Veterans Affairs benefits — and don’t have to file tax returns — still haven’t gotten their third stimulus checks nearly two weeks after Biden signed the legislation.”
They are not the only ones.
I do not file my taxes electronically, and that I think is one issue, but I do get my Social Security check by automatic direct deposit, and the first “stimulus check” in 2020, was paid to that bank account, though even then it was not paid as early as were payments to some friends and relatives.
I never did get the $600 dollar check and have taken the $600 tax credit on the 2020 income tax filing.
My case - in all three instances - is not matched by four siblings but is matched by one, with the exception that I did not earn a tax refund for 2019, or 2020 but he did for both years.
And so we wait. I have some neighbors who like me have gotten theirs, and some who have not.
I do not see a pattern, among the personal cases I know of.
A government lead by a lifetime politician will NEVER move as quickly as a real estate developer. Trump consistently put his boot on the bureaucracy to move faster. The rest of Washington leadership puts their boot on our necks.
I wish he would have said more about that. His handling of a COVID vaccination as well as PPP and other things would have been much worse under any one else.
I still haven’t even got the first 600. So they owe me to 2000 plus my tax refund which I should have gotten two weeks ago. I swear it’s cuz they’ve got me labeled.
I efiled... I might get my refund by summer they say.. 3 weeks is long gone..
I don’t know how I’ll survive with out my 12 bucks.. but I’ll do my bet.
I’ll file this one under “Karma”.
You needed to take the $600 as a tax credit on your 2020 income tax statement, if you filed it this year already. I think it is possible you can still do that - take the $600 missing payment - as part of your filing your 2021 income tax statement - next year. You’ll have to wait awhile I think to see if you still get the most recent $1,400 payment.

We received a letter from the IRS that said we’d be receiving our “free money” in the form of debit cards.
I just noticed in the acct I get my Social Security check deposited into...that the IRS has direct-deposited the $2800 for both the wife & I.
Remind me to thank my kids and grandkids...because they’ll be paying it off.
