(CNN)The man charged with killing 10 people in a Boulder grocery store passed a background check and purchased the weapon used in the slaughter, a Colorado gun shop owner said Friday.
The suspected gunman, Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, purchased a Ruger AR-556 on March 16 -- days before the shootings, a senior law enforcement source told CNN on condition of anonymity.

“on condition of anonymity”...meaning there is no way to fact-check whether this is true or not. I’m leaning towards CFN (Cable Fiction Network) inventing this in order to help demand stronger background checks.
Watch the gun dealer get sued.
Note that Colorado already has the trifecta of gun control measures being pushed.
Universal background checks
Magazine limits
Red flag laws
... and still a mentally deranged (sudden jihad syndrome) person was able to pass a background check and carry out a mass shooting with limited magazines.
What ultimately stopped this bad guy, was a good guy with a gun. The reason that the number of dead was so high is because there were not more armed citizens who were prepared to stop the guy.
The call should be for MORE guns,
"Passing a background check" doesn't take the place of judgement.
Why shouldn’t he?
What actionable acts had the asshole committed? What medical diagnosis of dangerous mental illness had been made for him?
Folks, murderous maniacs will always be with us. They don’t obey laws and they will find the means to act out their fantasies.
The tragedy is that the law meant that there were no armed citizens in the store to stop him.

You'll find out PDQ bgrnd checks are "racist."
Last time I took the background check to purchase a firearm (before the tragic boat accident), the process was pretty much automated. I filled out the form on a computer or iPad, hit “send”, digitally signed it, and the info went directly to the Fibbies for evaluation. The result was back in a couple of minutes.
If the FBI says “Ok”, then it’s Ok and well documented. The store is not liable for the FBI’s errors.
Interestingly, this Jihad-minded thug passed the background check, but Laura Loomer was placed on some sort of “can’t buy a gun” list. If that doesn’t illustrate the political agenda of the feds to all, then people are even stupider than I thought.
They already have your Medical history. O’bumercare, Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare Prime, Life, Champus. Every Ins Company sells them info, and hospitals.
Been a Firefighter, Police Officer, NG, MILITARY, Park Ranger, they have it and your fingerprints, Photo, Signature. How many times did you sign papers for a House or Car loan? Lets not forget Credit Cards, Debit Cards?
I couldn't have put it any better.
Sone cities ask for it in drivers license...
I saw the doctor a few weeks ago and the nurse came in to update my records. She said “Ok let’s see, you are an ex-smoker”. I said “uh, yeah, I quit 17 years ago. You still have that in my file?”. She replied “yeah, we’ve got everything”.
She then asked how much alcohol I consume. I told her I never touch the stuff.
FBI spends too much time supporting political repression.
translation? he bought it with the express approval of the FIB!
Has the media even mentioned the fact that the grocery store advertises kosher food and the shooter drove out of his way to get there. And it’s almost Passover, which is celebrated by several traditional Jewish dinners?
Of course he passed. Unless he was a convicted felon, the subject of an order of protection, or was previously treated for mental illness — and the information was entered into the national database — he is not going to get flagged. I’m willing to bet that the vast majority of certifiably mentally ill people have never been treated for mental illness, and therefore, they will not show up in the database unless they self-disclose.
Where did the FBI say that he was on their “watch list?” I read that he was “known to the FBI because of his alleged connection to a different person whom the bureau was investigating.” That’s not the same as being on a watch list.
This is where the terrorist fell through the cracks. If the FBI is aware of you, then the background check needs to fail.
Just proves that it’s not guns that kill but those who choose to shoot people that do.
