They are vaccinating and also using repurposed drug therapy to stay open as much as possible, notably therapies derived from HCQ and Ivermectin.Unlike America they are sharing their vaccines with the World as well.
If we had the same approach in America we would not have had to shut down at all.

Why are people criticizing India?
Our own company, Novavax, whose vaccine’s approval is on the pipeline already has an agreement with India to have their vaccines manufactured there.
Are these critics going to reject it if it were made available simply because they’re made in India?
The shutdown was coming, it was a strategic play and if they had to manufacture statistics and deaths then by God they would. Orange man needed to go down.
There was never any consideration by the left at not having it go on forever.
India knows it can be internationalist and more helpful to others if first helpful to itself to be prosperous and strong. A weak India with one billion people could only afford to be internationalist in words, but the stronger it is the more generous it can be and the more outward looking as well.
India is not without problems, but folks who live in glass houses should address their problems more and worry about India less.

Its not mRNA or DNA based. Its made like flue vaccine is.
I figure I am here because my immune system works fine as it it has for my ancestors going back millennia.
I see no purpose in allowing genetically based editing of my naturally evolved immune system , besides, what happens with the need for the next edits and the next an so on, eventually we will have to make trade offs.Not a good way.
Novavax will contribute to that evolution without editing, I prefer that as a matter of logic .
I think India is a good example to the whole world on how it has handled itself in the pandemic.
And as a bonus, we wouldn't be seeing the ugly twisted face of Dr Death (fauxi) on TV every night.

Ummmm, no. That’s not Novavax. Novavax is a “recombinant nanoparticle vaccine” not a conventional vaccine like the flu shot. It is absolutely a DNA-engineered vaccine. From the Wikipedia about it:
“The vaccine is produced by creating an engineered baculovirus containing a gene for a modified SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. The baculovirus then infects a culture of Sf9 moth cells, which create the spike protein and display it on their cell membranes. The spike proteins are then harvested and assembled onto a synthetic lipid nanoparticle about 50 nanometers across, each displaying up to 14 spike proteins.[3][4][8]
The formulation includes a saponin-based adjuvant.[3][4][8]”
That’s untested technology, just like the mRNA vaccines.
The closest to a traditional vaccine that’s been approved so far is the Johnson and Johnson one. It has no adjuvant and it uses 30+ year old well understood technology.

The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is known as Covishield in India.
This is very important information, because some of the less safe vaccines are marketed under subcontract names to confuse the consumer.
There *are* several actual traditional vaccines under development, that use an adjuvant plus killed or weakened COVID-19 virus particles. However, they’re maybe a year or so off and most of them are being developed by China.
With the Johnson and Johnson vaccine and the underlying tech behind it, generally the worst thing that can happen is... you get a fever/inflammation and it just doesn’t work. Nothing else happens and you don’t come down with the disease.
I am not going to pretend that adenovirus vector vaccines haven’t had issues in the past (see here: https://cen.acs.org/pharmaceuticals/vaccines/Adenoviral-vectors-new-COVID-19/98/i19 ) but it is as close to a traditional vaccine as has been approved and is based on well known and well understood technology.
Also, don’t think that because a vaccine is traditional that it will work - traditional vaccine attempts against HIV, Ebola, Marburg and other historically ‘difficult’ viruses either didn’t work or worse, actually *gave* the disease to the recipient. Whoops.
*All* of the COVID-19 vaccines approved to date used stem cells in development somewhere, but none of them contain stem cells. I believe that most of the ones in development do or will as well.
This is not new. The polio vaccine was developed the same way.
