Three of the nation’s biggest banks are asking shareholders to reject racial-equity resolutions after they expressed solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement last year.
Citigroup Inc. C, 3.22%, Wells Fargo & Co. WFC, 3.83% and Bank of America Corp. BAC, 4.87% were among the many large U.S. companies to make public statements of support in response to widespread protests last summer after the police killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. In recent days, they have all officially opposed shareholder groups’ calls for them to conduct and publicize racial-equity audits and other changes, saying they are already doing enough to address equity issues.
The shareholder proposals urge the banks to examine their practices and policies and identify ways to “avoid adverse impacts on nonwhite stakeholders and communities of color,” something the banks says is unnecessary because they are juggling different, related initiatives and/or have committed money to such issues internally and externally. The proposals are included in proxy statements to shareholders, which allow for the companies to support or oppose shareholder resolutions and explain why ahead of a vote at their annual meetings.

Let me get this straight...(I’m white and dense) so blacks should get told no audits, backgrounds, job history and just go right into the bank and get money and go out and buy a house, car, boat or whatever with no collateral whatsoever or open a bidness under the same “no” restraints? I’m serious as a heart attack here folks. Hub and I don’t need to make loans but our kids and grandkids are still in the market of making loans for one thing or the other if need be and they’ll get a colonoscopy free of charge to make a loan?

I’m also white and dense, but I don’t think it means what you think it means. I think the 3 banking groups are asking to NOT have inquiries/audits into whether or not they are handling their business in the appropriate racial-equity mode to meet SJW-type standards. Even the “woke” banks are bristling at further investigations into their actual wokeness in their day-to-day workings. JMHO, and may not be correct.
The funds on deposit should stay in line with racial percentages in the US.
There are some who believe that whites should be fired and blacks should be hired in their place. They seek equity in hiring beyond merit.
It seems as if the grievance groups want eternal low hanging fruit that other have to climb a ladder to get, because some Lefty in Berkeley says they are entitled to it.
No standards. No credit quality. And the banks know it.
I also agree, after B of A lent to illegals and shared data with the FBI on January 6th in DC with no warrants, I could give a sh- about what happens to these SJW organizations.
