Cumulus Media's Westwood One announced on Wednesday that Dan Bongino will be launching a new radio show during the time slot left vacant by conservative talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh.
The program, "The Dan Bongino Show," will broadcast 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET in markets nationwide on May 24, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, and Washington, DC, according to a press release.
"The Dan Bongino Show will tackle the hot political issues, debunking both liberal and Republican establishment rhetoric," the press release described. "As a former Secret Service agent and NYPD officer, Bongino is uniquely positioned to provide commentary and analysis that directly questions the philosophical underpinnings of both the Left and Big Government Republicans."
Bongino, a Fox News contributor, said "I'm excited to embrace the immense power of radio to connect with my listeners live for three hours every day. This is an incredible privilege, and I pledge to honor the trailblazing work of those who came before me."
"Dan is passionate and relatable, with a natural ability to connect with his audience," said Suzanne Grimes, President, Westwood One President Suzanne Grimes said in a statement. "Dan has been on a meteoric rise since his podcast launched in 2019, and we look forward to watching his star continue to soar."
Limbaugh passed away last month at 70 years old after battling Stage IV lung cancer.
Bongino praised Limbaugh after his passing, telling Fox & Friends, "Every conservative I know, everyone has had that Rush Limbaugh moment where they were listening and heard an idea for the first time ever."
Bongino himself had a recent health scare, being diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma last September. He said Limbaugh’s cancer diagnosis was a "lifetime journey," that makes you appreciate and acknowledge the impermanence of life

What a great choice!!! I’m in. Rush would be proud.
No one name will or can replace Rush, until the next best thing can get 500 stations on in that time slot.
In my opinion, there IS a replacement, but he is on the semi-competent Salem radio network, and that is Dennis Prager, THE voice as many Americans as possible need to hear right now.
A Trump, such as Jr., would be flaming hot!
A Trump, such as Jr., would be flaming hot!
James T Harris, a conservative black man broadcasting out of Phoenix , has a radio show called "The Conservative Circus". He definately needs some national attention turned his way, his show is GREAT!
Thought he was Australian.
I suspect that sponsors are pulling out.
Levin yells too much
How is that a replacement if he is already in the same time slot? You move him over then you still have an empty slot that needs to be filled.
If Stein wanted a full time Radio gig, he would already have one.
My guess is he does not want that day in day out commitment.
But we will see him continue to fill in from time to time.
On which show? We will see.
Bongino will have to build his own Radio audience.
March 10th: Dan Bongino, 46, says he’s gotten “a clean bill of health” after completing treatment for Hodgkin Lymphoma in February.
He announced it on Hannity last week.

“This doesn’t settle what is going on with the Rush Limbaugh show on Premier Networks”
I have heard three or four of Rush’s show since his passing. I forget the guests host name (probably Matthews or Herman or both) but I thought they were good as the Host made his points and then they would play recordings of Rush from various years pertaining to current events. His viewpoints are timeless, it doesn’t matter that the names of the Politians Rush is talking about have changed. I believe Snerdley is still producing the show. Seems to me keeping Rush on the air in that format can work and bring in ratings?
“I am somewhat surprised that Rush et al did not have a plan in place.”
A post-Rush Rush-caliber show is impossible because there’s no one that can come close to Rush’s broadcasting qualities. Steyn, Bongino and the others can’t do it.
Rush and Trump are two historical rarities.
Rush did not run the radio company. “His” plans were irrelevant.
You don’t know who DAN BONGINO IS??? omg.
I agree, there is no equal. I just didn’t think disbanding the whole brand was going to happen.
I have drive time in the 12-3 time slot and honestly, after the first several weeks I started to tune out. It is time to move on. Replacing Rush Limbaugh isn’t going to be easy and there will be some failure along the way. Even Rush talked about the times he succeeded and failed too. So it shouldn’t be something EIB is shying away from.
It is important that whoever takes the time slot is not continually compared to Rush, their personality needs to be able to stand on its own. Is it Bongino? I don’t know. I really like Mark Steyn. Locally I like Bob Frantz as well. We shall wait and see.
This story obviously doesn’t adequately inform us what is going on.
