Cumulus Media's Westwood One announced on Wednesday that Dan Bongino will be launching a new radio show during the time slot left vacant by conservative talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh.
The program, "The Dan Bongino Show," will broadcast 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET in markets nationwide on May 24, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, and Washington, DC, according to a press release.
"The Dan Bongino Show will tackle the hot political issues, debunking both liberal and Republican establishment rhetoric," the press release described. "As a former Secret Service agent and NYPD officer, Bongino is uniquely positioned to provide commentary and analysis that directly questions the philosophical underpinnings of both the Left and Big Government Republicans."
Bongino, a Fox News contributor, said "I'm excited to embrace the immense power of radio to connect with my listeners live for three hours every day. This is an incredible privilege, and I pledge to honor the trailblazing work of those who came before me."
"Dan is passionate and relatable, with a natural ability to connect with his audience," said Suzanne Grimes, President, Westwood One President Suzanne Grimes said in a statement. "Dan has been on a meteoric rise since his podcast launched in 2019, and we look forward to watching his star continue to soar."
Limbaugh passed away last month at 70 years old after battling Stage IV lung cancer.
Bongino praised Limbaugh after his passing, telling Fox & Friends, "Every conservative I know, everyone has had that Rush Limbaugh moment where they were listening and heard an idea for the first time ever."
Bongino himself had a recent health scare, being diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma last September. He said Limbaugh’s cancer diagnosis was a "lifetime journey," that makes you appreciate and acknowledge the impermanence of life

Well, that should keep it going!
Prayers for Dan!
I read it again.
Problem is it just says the Rush Limbaugh “hour” on Cumulus.
Not the Rush Limbaugh show.
The Rush Limbaugh show is on is on a different network.
This doesn’t settle what is going on with the Rush Limbaugh show on Premier Networks.
I wonder if his engineer/producer/side kick Joe Armacost will go with him.
My congratulations go to Dan Bongino.
I hope Dan has conquered his own cancer.
Mark Stein would have been a better choice. But he’s too smart for your typical conservative audience today.
It's called Canadian citizenship.
Does the EIB Network have ongoing contracts with local stations? That I don’t know and will try and find out locally.
I know the replays are hurting our local station, I am a fill in host for a weekend show.
Bongino will be awesome.
I had predicted he’d get the call.
Whoever he is, he doesn’t deserve it.
Like the last scenes in “Saving Private Ryan”: You EARN this.
It could still happen.
If Premier Networks really loved Rush & wished his spirit to continue they would make The Rush Limbaugh Show a permanent fixture and have a permanent host such as Mark Steyn continue the program.
Then in New York at noon it would be Dan Bongino on 770 vs Mark Steyn on 710.
Now you need to predict what happens with the actual Rush Limbaugh show.
Dan will be on different stations.
He isn’t replacing Rush. They had a mishmash of hosts at this timeslot of WABC.
I am somewhat surprised that Rush et al did not have a plan in place. Surely, what is occurring presently is not excellence. I fully expected a permanent replacement would be in place after a week or two of Rush’s passing. Losing the time slot paints a dim future for EIB. I suspect whatever was planned fell apart for some reason.
LOL That and he has a British accent. :)
Good. I just checked and Cumulus owns 98.7 in Knoxville. I look forward to Bongino, and hope his cancer is a thing of the past.
Mark Stein loves to laugh at his own jokes. It gets tedious sometimes. Now, if Dan slips a few laughs I think he’d be best.
EIB is just a conglomeration of contracted networks. For whatever reason, some of those networks are dropping out and hiring their own hosts for the 12-3 slot.
Who can blame them? It also may have been the plan all along.
