Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) did not hold back Wednesday in ripping H.R. 1, the so-called “For the People Act.” The House bill would radically change the United States’ voting system.
Lee called the bill “rotten to the core.” He said it is as if the bill was “written in hell by the devil himself.”
“I disagree with every single word in H.R. 1, including the words ‘but,’ ‘and,’ and ‘the.’ Everything about this bill is rotten to the core. This is a bill as if written in hell by the devil himself,” Lee declared.
“This takes all sorts of decisions the federal government has no business making. It takes them away from the states, makes them right here in Washington, D.C. by Congress, apparently in an effort to ensure an institutional revolutionary Democratic Party of sorts — one that can remain in power for many decades to come. It does this by taking away these decisions.”
“Elections in America have been conducted at the state and local level,” he continued.
“They are completely flipping that principle on its head so that these things can be micromanaged from Washington. That’s wrong. That’s really wrong. It’s bad policy. As much as anything else, it’s wildly unconstitutional.”

Wait, wait. I just talked to a Mormon up here the other day who swore up and down that he believes the Bible. I asked him why he needed a different book then and of course he said it augments it.
However, you’re saying they don’t believe in hell which means they don’t believe in the the Bible God’s word? I’m shocked I tell you, shocked.
I’m done voting too unless it’s for independence.
Could you please pass the ammo, *cough* I mean salt.
Says the Congressman from Bangalore.
Lee is a turd. He did nothing but undermine Trump and sit back watch the Democrats steal the election. Now, he wants to benefit by criticizing the Democrats he helped give power to.
Funny from the guy that loves India.
I bet you he wrote it. Him and Romney know it. The 2 of them are probably laughing and Mike Lee gave that quote.
Bottom line is that the declaration of independence discusses this quite clearly. The correct path is a progression of four boxes, usually ending and getting resolved in the second box.
1. Soap box
2. Voting box
3. Jury box
4. Ammo box.
You voted to certify the election, and sanction unlimited voter fraud on January 6th. You knew what would come from your actions of that day. You are complicit in everything the Democrats are doing.
There’s a difference between saying I’m not going to watch another NFL game and trying to get the NFL cancelled. I have never told someone they shouldn’t watch the NFL, but I haven’t watch a game since they started allowing the kneeling BS. Same with the Chicks (no more Dixie), not that I had ever listed to them before.
“the same people whining about ‘cancel culture’ were all for canceling the Dixie Chicks and the NFL”
Apples and oranges.
One fundamental difference is that the cancel culture is attacking people for doing what is right, honorable, and noble. Comparing the two is like saying it is wrong to spank a child for misbehaving because some parents spank their children for getting caught shoplifting.
Cancel culture is also about taking away free speech, the ability to have a bank account, or to hold a job.
Boycotting a brand or business because they do not represent you is an entirely different thing.
Further, a good boycott can bring about positive changes and reform. Cancel culture is an extension of the politics of personal destruction and has the ultimate aim of killing people who get in the way of the left’s unquenchable thirst for power.
I can boycott the Dixie Chicks and members of the NFL while still supporting their right to express their opinions on social media, keep money safely in a bank account, and receive good service at their favorite restaurants.
I have no problem with a liberal refusing to buy pillows from an advertiser on Rush Limbaugh. I DO have a BIG problem with their attempts deplatform, demonetize, and pretty much murder ALL conservatives.
Well, it was written by Nanzi - the Devil's Handmaiden.
Naturally it is. It was written by Demonically possessed Democrats.
The other “guy” from Utah, Mitt Romney, is no doubt the very Devil Mike Lee is referring to who wrote it.
Same here. Pubbies are at their rhetorical best when out of power. When they are in power they stand for nothing but rake in the $ along with the rest of the Inner Party.
After almost 50 years of GOP membership, I reregistered as unaffiliated shortly after January 6th.
Given the election theft of last November, I also don’t see the point of voting in federal elections.
No offense Mike but I hear the Indian visa lobby calling you on line one.
Either you believe in boycotts and canceling people, or you don’t.
I will *NEVER* let the politics, religion, or any other factor in the life of an artist or entrepreneur in the slightest effect my purchasing or enjoyment of their product, and may those who do, left or right, have no joy in life.
“Either you believe in boycotts and canceling people, or you don’t.”
Then don’t discipline your children when they misbehave. Because, by your standard, that means you are a child abuser. You either believe in disciplining children or you don’t. A parent who spanks his child for disobeying is no different than the parent who keeps a child in a cage and deprives him of food. Same thing, according to you. But, back in the real world, rational people can tell the difference.
Your philosophy also applies to international trade. We should have never allowed ourselves to become dependent on Communist China without demanding that they change their human rights abuses. Now we have empowered them to destroy us.
“and may those who do, left or right, have no joy in life”
You are entitled to spend your money as you please, but don’t pretend that there are no consequences. And don’t call a difference of opinion “hypocrisy”. Spare us the virtue signaling.
Remember when Obama was president and the R’s were the minority. Over and over they voted to repeal Obamacare. But when the R’s controlled both houses and the presidency, they oddly stopped doing that.
It’s all just show.
Exactly...not buying tickets anymore.
Ever since the lead singer left the group, they’re just not worth seeing any more. :(
