Texas and Mississippi followed Florida’s lead this week and announced they would lift key business restrictions and end statewide mask mandates, but many popular retailers plan to continue requiring customers to wear face coverings in their stores.

That, and to virtue signal their compliance with the looney left.
Ostensibly yes.
However, many of these CEO's and Boards are very, very woke and love these mandates and restrictions and want to user in "the New Normal".
I presume that at least means that although they may decline to serve you or allow you entry, you at least can’t be arrested.
But obviously our tech/globalist fascism still has a firm grip on us.
“ What is the point?”
I wonder that myself. Many people are afraid of the boogie man and believe the little mask troll. Things these days are based on people’s feelings, not reason. There are stores that don’t nag you about masks. I shop there. Bust me for being unmasked and I shop elsewhere.
Maybe they don’t want to be so popular anymore.
Even if some of these retailers agree with the restrictions being lifted, corporate habits can be very hard to break.
Plus, there is always the danger of some no-name DEM Judge deciding to ‘suspend’ the lifting of any restrictions.
We’ve all seen it happen when Trump was president.
Find different retailers.
Tennessee is considering a bill that would protect citizens from recrimination when it comes to refusing to wear masks (medical devices). SB 0320 / HB 0794 It looks like it’s scheduled for some consideration on March 10.
Dave Ramsay, a TN resident/businessman, just endorsed it.
Here’s a link to the info. And there’s an excellent video link on that site.

If a business asks you to leave because you are not wearing a mask or are wearing a shirt or shoes, and you refuse to leave, you can be cited for trespassing.
A lot of businesses removing the mandate for customers but keeping it for employees.
I’m self-employed, so fine by me, I guess. But it’s going to be a strange spectacle being waited on by a masked servant caste.
To get an employee killed playing Mask Police would be my guess.
Bump to change my tagline.
I’m sure it’s a business decision. It depends on what they believe their customers want. I’m 69 and I shop where they enforce the mask mandate. If they didn’t, I would shop elsewhere. But I’m in Ohio where the mask mandate is still in place anyway, which relieves the business owners of having to calculate what percentage of customers they will lose either way.
Let them require masks and the market will decide. I think the masks will dissuade many from doing business with them.
I don't think many FReepers get how large the segment of population is that believes in the masks. Even though the mask mandate is over here in Texas, I do not think things will change much. The businesses would lose more customers than they would gain if they stopped requiring the masks. I'll keep wearing one when I shop because I know there will be a sign at very entrance saying that masks are required in order to shop there.
If the state is not requiring masks, time to put them away. Companies that insist on customers wearing them should be boycotted, closed.
If you want to wear a mask, do so. Don’t force me if I don’t want to.
I’d smile at you and wave bye as you left my markets! :-D
