WASHINGTON - Hyatt Hotels Corp called symbols of hate “abhorrent” on Sunday after the design of a stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference at one of its hotels drew comparisons to a Norse rune used by Nazis during World War Two.
A photo of the CPAC stage went viral on social media on Saturday, with thousands of Twitter users sharing posts comparing its distinctive design to an othala rune, one of many ancient European symbols that Nazis adopted to “reconstruct a mythic ‘Aryan’ past,” according to the Anti-Defamation League.
The ceiling of the conference room featured a lighting display in the same shape as the stage, according to Reuters photographs.
Hyatt said all aspects of conference logistics, including the stage design, were managed by the American Conservative Union, which organized the conference.
The comparisons were “outrageous and slanderous,” Matt Schlapp, American Conservative Union chair, said in a Twitter post on Saturday. He added the organization had a “long standing commitment to the Jewish community” and that the conference featured several Jewish speakers.

Oh, I see, it’s the stage itself. Good grief..
Did you know the Nazis used the Arabic number system???
ANYONE WHO USES THAT NUMBER SYSTEM IS A NAZI!!!!
Shapes are racist now.....
That's not true, because every good Socialist/Globalist knows that Conservative/Patriots every waking moment, and some of their sleeping one's, are either spent coming up with secret ways to convey their racism/sexism/homophobism/etc, or actually putting it in to practice. Look at the recent poll in which Dem voters responded by like 80% that Trump supporters (overwhelmingly Conservative/Patriotic) are the #1 threat to the country. Who, in their right mind, can argue with such the overwhelming mountain of proof that 80% of Dems believe it!
Well, it does resemble the “rune”, but it is UPSIDE-DOWN. By imaging a symbol upside-down, it is, in fact a repudiation of the symbol, such as a upside-down cross for satanism.
But I think the stage managers and designers didn’t even know about the symbol in the first place, much like a Navajo rug-weaver weaving designs into a traditional rug that to us look like a bunch of swastikas.
It is the Beholder who sees things in symbols that aren’t intentional.
Maybe some lefty working at a design company was peeved at having to work on the CPAC design, until they found a Nazi rune design and made that the stage layout, then notified the press.
Speaking of deranged, I was watching El Dorado, a John Wayne flick, over the weekend. There's a scene near the end where the Duke and Robert Mitchum were discussing their next move against the bad guys. Mitchum said (paraphrase) "we got one old Indian fighter, one guy with a shotgun and two cripples", referring to himself and Wayne. They bleeped "cripples". Played it back to be sure I heard what I didn't hear and yep, they bleeped "cripples"! (I believe it was on AMC)
People have gone insane!
Silencing opposition and burning books is what the Nazis did and so are the Dems.
It’s three bordered squares set up with two walls blocking the left and right square. It’s a simple geometric design.
Of course the lunatics think it’s a coded message. That’s how lunacy works
Hyatt also trying to have it both ways - but at least these days they DID let them have it! An unbelievable statement in in it’s own right that you even have to say that in America!!
“Who, in their right mind, can argue with such the overwhelming mountain of proof that 80% of Dems believe it!”
Don’t you find it scary to be able to “understand” lefty “logic” like that?
All this caterwalling by the Left is laughable. They are the party that literally Booed God and Jesus at their national convention in 2012. They can stfu.
Sorry... I meant three bordered squares set against a fourth bordered square.
If it wasn’t for the carpet pattern, it wouldn’t be remarkable.
“Maybe some lefty working at a design company was peeved at having to work on the CPAC design, until they found a Nazi rune design and made that the stage layout, then notified the press.”
I think you may be swerving perilously close to the truth.
Doesn’t the comparison more closely fit those “ribbons” used to show solidarity or concern for various causes, too?
