A little more than a year ago, 2,000 antifa tried to shut down my speech at UC Berkeley, according to police on the scene. The Berkeley police chief had ordered her officers to stand outside the building like mute ninjas, and make no arrests, unless they personally witnessed a felony being committed in front of them.
So barring a bank suddenly popping up on the sidewalk and an antifa attempting to rob it, I had no official protection from 2,000 violent, mentally disturbed thugs.
Thank God I had the Proud Boys.
There had been no warning of the antifa mobilization against me until an hour before the event, when they showed up, with a thousand of them at each entrance to the building where I was to speak.
Luckily, I’d invited about 20 Proud Boys from northern California chapters to attend my speech. If I hadn’t, I might not have made it to the campus at all. (If antifa had won, at least you would have heard about my visit to Berkeley, because the media would have reported on it triumphantly.)
The College Republicans had booked a private room for dinner in an Oakland restaurant for earlier that evening, so I invited the Proud Boys to meet me there 45 minutes before the students arrived. We all had to recognize one another, in case they were needed to help deal with any violence during my speech.

I know Ann Coulter and the Proud Boys are not any more respected around here than are the Qtards, Lin Wood or Mitch McConnell, but unfortunately there is no one in a leadership position for conservatism.

I’ve lost some admiration for Coulter over the years. But to praise the Proud Boys in this toxic environment - that takes guts. Good for her.
Good reminder of how we got here. It’s easy to forget how vicious the early assaults of the left were and how little was done by the police to protect their targets. Now organizing protection against the left is equated with domestic terrorism.

For now that’s Trump, of course. But I hope Rand Paul will be next up to bat. Paul is very principled, and he’s conservative enough for me. He’s not perfect. But who is?

Everybody wants to distance themselves from the Proud Boys until those Proud Boys are the only ones who might save you from the commies.
Same for us. I’m glad they were there and wish they could really take it for the Antifa fags.
I still don’t trust Rand. First generation career politicians are slippery enough, but at least they wormed their way to the trough themselves, which is some kind of accomplishment. Second generation career politicians? No thanks.

But I have reached a point where, if the Left sees them as the root of conservative evil, I am more inclined to think they are are not what they are painted to be.
I don’t buy into it.
And the more the Left demonizes people, the more inclined I am to want to look deeper.
The Left (and now, many on the intellectually or ideologically weak Right) use them as a tool, I have come to view them as the equivalent of Goldstein and The Two Minutes Hate in Orwell’s “1984”.
Nightmare: voters decide between Jeb Bush with Kasich as VP for official GOP versus Kamala Harris with Hillary as VP. Trump allowed on ballot in only 17 states (SCOTUS upholds having him off ballot elsewhere)and polling with 29% , splitting the vote against the Dems. Mitt and Susan Collins after prayerful night decide to back Harris & Hillary. CNN makes huge mistake and announces Dominion tabulation for Dem victory before election day.
Be thankful for today which will be considered the good old days tomorrow.

That’s a fair point. But Rand Paul spent 15+ years as a physician in private practice before first running for office. So we’re not talking about some guy who has spent his whole adult life at the public trough.
I’m not a member (yet) but I associate with several. They are not White Supremacists, as they have Black, Asian and Latino members. They simply believe in traditional Male and Female roles and that Western Civilization is what created the modern world. They also belief in standing firm in the face of Antifa and their ilk. They call themselves “Proud Western Chauvinists”
