The family of a Texas boy who apparently froze to death — after the family’s mobile home lost power during an intense cold snap — have filed a $100 million lawsuit against the region’s utility providers, blaming them for the tragedy.
Cristian Pavon Pineda, 11, was found lifeless in a bed next to his toddler brother Monday, as temperatures inside plunged into the single digits and the family struggled to keep warm.

Sue Biden’s EPA who refused to permit gas powered electric plants to exceed 60% capacity due to green house gas concerns.
People died due to global warming fraud.
Impeach Joe for murder! Conservatives can do hyperbole too.
Good God what parents let some child freeze to death? You know the house temp is dropping and dropping and you DO NOTHING except fall asleep? Why was that kid not wrapped in multiple layers and blankets? Why didn’t mommy go out and start the car and blast the heat and let everyone warm up every few hours? So many things that could have been done to prevent this.
Yeah huddle together under layers of blankets with layers of clothes on. Huddle together and/or with a pet if one is available. My 65 year old friend near Decatur, Tx. had to rough it out in a mobile home alone and with her little dog. Yes it was a dangerous freeze but anyone in a house with blankets need not die of hypothermia.
I might wish them well if the child actually froze to death, but filing a $100 million lawsuit without a cause of death listed is nothing more than political theater.
Why?
This is the result of valuing ideology over the lives of our fellow man. I would love to see John Kerry spend a frigid night in a trailer without power.
So Texas has refused to comply with EPA restrictions in the past and all of a sudden they’re going to follow those restrictions to the letter when their generating plants shut down due to their own incompetence? Really?
Yeah it seems to me that something is missing from this story. That being said, these parents might not have had any idea about how to keep warm in dangerous conditions. Being from New Hampshire and having been stationed in Alaska, I had to deal with ice storms and no power with children several times, but I was prepared.
Sorry for their loss.
My daughter slept in bed with me if the power went off in winter.
They should go after the EPA and Joe Biden, IMHO. This is actually a policy death. They could have easily released the EPA restriction to allow Texas to produce enough power for he cold snap, and they refused.
Don’t these people have cars? Why not get out of town. Didn’t they have warming centers?
Why didn’t those dumb ass parents take the child to a warming center?
We had a wood/coal furnace in our house when I was a kid. We would pile blankets, coats...whatever we had to stay warm as the furnace was burning low.40s and early 50s in Upstate.
We had a wood/coal stove in the house until about five years ago. The newer chimney in this old house wasn’t built for that stove. The chimney was here where we bought the farm 35 years ago. The stove pipe on the stove was meant to go through the roof instead of the wall or through a fireplace. It is on the back of the stove instead of the top. Too many bends in the pipe caused creosote buildup that required a lot of cleaning. The original chimney was covered up and is not in a good spot. This old farmhouse is 70 years old. We took the stove out and stored it in the big farm building and put in a propane gas stove instead. We still will have heat now but when I was a single mother all we had was electric. I still have the chimney through the wall that we could attach to a different heater but I’m not thrilled about carrying in wood anymore and husband doesn’t help. I’ll stick with gas as emergency heat for now. We also have a big generator for longer emergencies.
I’m still trying to figure our why folks didn’t fill every vessel they could with water....and get out of Town if they could. We’re not talking a month long problem.
Maybe groveling Ted will join himself as a defendant.
Were there any?
