The Biden administration has waived ethics rules to allow a top Department of Homeland Security official to make policy in areas on which she lobbied for her former employer, Amnesty International.
A memo from the White House Office of Management and Budget, dated Feb. 9 and released publicly on Friday, spelled out the rationale for waiving those rules for Charanya Krishnaswami, the senior counselor to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
"Without this waiver, the adjustments that would be necessary to maintain Ms. Krishnaswami’s recusal are anticipated to result in serious limitations and inefficiencies in the Department," acting OMB director Robert Fairweather wrote.
Under the terms of Biden's ethics pledge, Krishnaswami would normally be barred from participating in any policymaking decisions relating to issues on which she'd lobbied, making a host of policy areas in DHS's portfolio effectively off-limits.
"Here, these factors demonstrate that it is in the public interest to grant a limited waiver to Ms. Krishnaswami," Fairweather wrote.

Two points:
1. There is no reason to have ethics rules if they can be waived. So this is just another example of DC Kabuki theater.
2. That Charanya Krishnaswami chick is kinda cute.

Ethical behavior is for suckers. Everybody knows that “Scout’s Honor” has become a sort of running joke.

Nothing says a ruling elite and sycophant press like shutting off public comment on articles then labeling it as “safe and engaging”. Engaging as in what, “Shut up, we’re talking”?

Yahoo has always been a reliably liberal website. But the reader comments there usually had a conservative slant.
So I guess Yahoo has gone from “We’d like your opinion.” (classical liberal)
to
“When we want your opinion, we’ll ask for it. In the meantime just keep quiet.” (modern fascist liberal)
In classic Hollywood movies about WWII, a bunch of soldiers with “foreign-sounding” names would be in a foxhole, all fighting along side each other. Because we were a melting pot. People came from all over and they joined to fight for the ideals of their adopted country. They paid their dues.
Today, at least some of these people are grifters trying to make a fast buck and ethics be damned.

Until you see her hairy legs and armpits.
Waiving the rules saves them the trouble of ignoring them. Rules don’t apply to liberals any more than federal laws or lockdown orders do.
