Rep. Devin Nunes: The Right Needs Alternative Social Media Platforms (DUH)
Newsmax ^ | Today | By Charlie McCarthy

Republicans and conservatives need to build and use alternative social media platforms, according to Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., on Newsmax TV.

Big Tech companies such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube have censored right-wing users and content, especially after people questioned the presidential election results, and also following the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

"We're going to have to get back on social media and stay off the Googles, the Fakebooks, and the Twitters," Nunes told host Greg Kelly on Friday's "Greg Kelly Reports." "I think it's happening. I just got my haircut today and everybody there was talking about the challenges with social media and the legacy media.

"Every day, it's basically one mind at a time we have to win over, and that's all we really can do as Americans right now."

So what we need is to invigorate our churches and local support networks first... all the rest will fall in line. Do something meaningful locally and your efforts on the macro scale will be more likely to bare fruit.

The right does not need a social media platform. What we need is for bureaucrats to do the right thing and restore our freedom of speech by regulating social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

It must be understood that Twitter, Google, Facebook, etc. are utilities and as such they cannot be allowed to continue as monopolies. Especially monopolies that violate our civil rights.

Exactly!

Well, I’m all for muh free speeches ... Unless someone makes fun of a morbidly obese Antifa woman who died of a heart attack while participating in a riot in Charlottesville. Anyone who would make fun of her should be banished from the internet, right Freepers? Are you for muh free speeches or not?

So we find another social network platform, and it becomes infiltrated by Progressive thinking, and then we find another social network platform, which will also be infiltrated?

How about politicians getting a backbone and fighting for our freedoms instead of trying to find another ‘thing that we need’?

“It must be understood that Twitter, Google, Facebook, etc. are utilities and as such they cannot be allowed to continue as monopolies. Especially monopolies that violate our civil rights.”

That’s my opinion too. And it may be impossible to build a rival to these media platforms because of the network effect and the first mover advantage that they have going for them. It’s what gives them monopoly power.

Actually we need a separate economy and education. We have nothing in common with Marxists.

Fox News was a good competitors, despite not originating from America (Fox had an Australian origin I believe, right?)

But they were (very good) for a long time.

Now, at least in my view they are totally gone.

But that means half the country is looking for a real option.

That is a (big) market.

the first mover advantage

That advantage is lost when executives enter a death spiral of only left turns. See Myspace.

In the era of resurrected Brownshirts, preserving anonymity is a must-have that leftist media companies will never allow.

The LANGUAGE of the internet is: Facebook, Twitter, Google, Amazon, etc.

There once was a language (still exists), known as COBOL. All mainframe computers understood it, and used it, and it has even been migrated to the smaller platforms, such as PCs. It was ‘developed’ by the U.S. government, with the help of private industry. Point being that, in today’s world, whatever is the means of development and communications, MUST BE shared; iow, the code and tools for Twitter and Facebook and Amazon and Google and MSN/Yahoo, must be made available to others who wish to create their own web-sites and services. The internet is the people’s platform, and anything that occurs through it, is there only because THE PEOPLE paid for it. The PEOPLE, otherwise known as the U.S. government, must create laws and regulations to allow that kind of “sharing”. Sharing means that, no one group or person can have a monopoly on the code and/or services and/or availability of the internet.

The position of conservatives and traditional Americans is similar to that of Catholics and Mormons in 19th Century America: unpopular groups disdained by the mainstream Protestant culture. Both religious minorities formed parallel institutions; parochial schools and church colleges and groups like the Knights of Columbus for the Catholics and taking over a formerly desolate area as their own in the case of the Mormons. Perhaps the self segregation and building of parallel institutions should have been more diligent decades ago. But it isn't too late even in 2021.

could of told you that 2 years into Trumps term. Trump COULD have promoted an alternative WHILE STILL PRESIDENT, and buried tweeter and the other left leaning social media, but instead him promoted them, and then they turned on him of course.
