What we've gone through in the past year, to have that much hope be delivered in a row, that is absolutely phenomenal. To be Southern means to love thy neighbor and love thy Whataburger, are we right?
To that point, patrons of one Whataburger in the Pensacola suburb, Pace, embodied the best of both virtues with a chain of more than 100 customers buying food for the people behind them in the drive-thru line.

I suppose this is a nice gesture, but it would be weirdly stressful to me.
I wouldn’t mind picking up the tab for someone, but having it paid for me would make me very uncomfortable.
People are such lemmings.
I’m curious. What did the 106th say?
I’m from Puerto Rico but in my Army times I’ve gone to school or lived in Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina. I absolutely prefer the South over any other region of the mainland.
Clearly extremist behavior.
“The car behind me said he’ll pick up my tab”, is the DC way!
Same here. I’d be thinking, “How the hell did the person in front of me know what I was going to order?”
“...a chain of more than 100 customers buying food for the people behind them...”
Around here, I fear that it would be a chain of one.
That has never, nor will it ever, happened here in Philly.
“What did the 106th say?”
I said “That was sure nice of him. Have a good day.” and I drove away.
(a true story)
Same here. I’d be thinking, “How the hell did the person in front of me know what I was going to order?”

I’m guessing you order into a speaker a few cars back before paying. The first virtue signaler just had to ask what the car behind him ordered.
Good for you!
He probably saw a mini van and a family of 8 behind him in line.
Midwest and the South have the most pleasant people I have ever encountered on God’s green earth. North Carolina also has just about the best climate.
“I suppose this is a nice gesture, but it would be weirdly stressful to me.”
“I wouldn’t mind picking up the tab for someone, but having it paid for me would make me very uncomfortable.”
If it were me, I’d take the free food, pocket the savings and then make sure to give it to some needy person grubbing for change.
Buying burgers, coffee, donuts for nameless, faceless, not- needy middle class people is not Christian charity, despite how the pagan, godless media frames it.
>>I’m curious. What did the 106th say?<<
“No.”
But it will never be #1. That title is owned by Redwood City, California.
Ah. Good point. But that leads to another question. Why is it that every time I go through the drive-thru I get my order within seconds and I’m on my merry way, but the car in front of me always takes ten minutes to get his or her order?
California does not have the most pleasant people in the world, though.
