New weekly jobless claims unexpectedly rose by 13,000 to 861,000 in the week that ended February 13, the Department of Labor said Thursday.
Economists had expected claims to fall to 768,00 from the 793,000 initially reported for the prior week. The previous week’s figure was revised up by 55,000 to 848,000.

Now I know we are in the third Obama term. “Unexpectedly” bad economic news is starting again.
“unexpected” - right.
Meanwhile, Uncle Joe has called a lid for the day to make snow cream for the family. Priorities, you know.
Now we have periodic presidential pauses. Insane.
Uncle joe owns that. He will try to blame it on Trump, but no one will believe it.
Well, if I owned a business and I expected higher taxes and more regulation, I’d back off on hiring too.
I suppose that argument makes me a domestic terrorist in the eyes of the Left.
Oh but open the borders!!
Just the Biden economy beginning to kick into high gear.
Darkeness descends.
.....If you lost your job but voted for Biden or ANY fn Democrat down to dog catcher I feel sorry for your family but I feel just “tough shit” for you. You should take some civics courses, study history, watch credible news sources and grow up while your sending out resumes!
Emperor Bidenius smiles.
And raise the minimum wage!!
And while we’re at it we should force the cost of energy to rise!!
We must do all we can to help small businesses. They are the prime engines of growth in the economy.

Then, those figures will be revised upward in a week or two. Just like Obama’s figures for 8 years.
Joe will get right on this.
After he takes his day long nap.
Look on the bright side - soon there will be so many unemployed that those that sill work will have no traffic problems getting to an from work - like under Obama
Ahh! The return of the ‘unexpected jobless claims. Who among the Wizards Of Smart could have possibly foreseen this?
I did, and I play a banjo for a living.
But, but, I thought Creepy Joe had a plan . . .
Wait, he “inherited” it from Trump . . .
Guess those shovel ready jobs weren’t as shovel ready as we thought . . .
