Justices to consider whether Arizona’s voting rules discriminate against minorities

The 2020 elections may be over, but the Supreme Court will soon hear oral argument in a pair of voting-rights cases from one of last year’s key battleground states, and the eventual outcome may determine how courts will assess allegedly discriminatory voting rules for years to come.

The cases challenge two Arizona voting provisions: a policy that requires an entire ballot to be thrown out if the ballot was cast at the wrong precinct, and a state law that bans the collection of ballots by third parties, sometimes called “ballot harvesting.” The challengers argue that both the policy and the law discriminate against racial minorities in Arizona, and the justices’ eventual ruling obviously could affect how the state carries out its elections going forward. More broadly, though, the justices could also weigh in on the proper test for evaluating voting-rights claims like these, which could have a sweeping effect nationwide.

The cases, Brnovich v. Democratic National Committee and Arizona Republican Party v. Democratic National Committee, have been consolidated for one hour of argument. The court will hear the cases on March 2.

How this is decided should predict how our "conservative" majority SCOTUS decides cases under the Harris/Biden administration.

All this “ oppression “, “ racism “, “ xenophobia “, “ sexism “, “ homophobia “etc. has just about reached a tipping point.

Those with IQs below 60 will soon be the only audience for the insanity.

If the Democrats get away with this crap, the US may be lost. As Mark Steyn said, no other civilized country has an election system with so few safeguards against fraud. Young people might seriously consider if their future is here.

Law and order discriminate against stupid people.

I fail to see how either policy could be considered racist, unless you assume that a significant number of minorities are either too stupid to go to the right polling place or too lazy to submit their own ballots.

If all Arizonans, of whatever race or ethnicity, are required to abide by the policy and the law, then there is no discrimination. Couldn’t be simpler.

Ballot Harvesting. Such a term. Why can’t people fill out their own ballot? Even up until my dad was 91, I would help him by reading out of the guide, and handing him the pen. Before that, I would push his wheel chair to the polls and stay with him. I never influenced him (He had a mind of his own for sure) but if you have an elderly parent or relative, it is your responsibility to help them. But I think what they are talking about here is going into rest homes and “helping” the elderly vote and chose candidates and propositions. Which is I think illegal and unethical. If judges allow this to happen, well, that is anti-democracy, you know, what Democrats scream about?

I’m not so young and I’m considering not having a future here. We’re being intentionally destroyed. It will be the rich rich lording over the low IQ slaves.

As bad as things were in the last election to favor, I mean win through corruption, commies last election. The gop still will not fight, but the dems are already trying to make it even more corrupt. I must say I envy their commitment. I wish our side had even a fraction of it.

If America was half as “racist” as the media would have you believe, there would be no one here but whites. It is a shame that people believe the BS only to support the machine that ultimately devours them.

I have thought about leaving, maybe for some nice peaceful country that doesn’t send its young men and women into useless wars that never end and a country that doesn’t hate white people. I’m not very adventurous, though. My oldest son says I’m the most risk-adverse person on the planet. He’s probably right. :-)

Amazing how so many arguments about injustice vs minorities inherently depend on them being, in the Left’s opinion, nitwits.

Can’t have voter ID because minorities don’t have ID ... guess they don’t buy beer.

Can’t expect them to vote in the correct district is like thinking they don’t know where the post office or DMV is.

And so forth.

The fact that they’ve consolidated two very different cases and allotted just one hour for arguments says to me they’ve already determined how they are going to rule and the hearing is just a formality before they impose their edict on the nation.

Once the US falls though, there won’t be anywhere else in the world to run and hide in. It’s make or break time.

THIS is what Trump’s rallies should have been focusing on. Getting people to get involved in some way to fight the COURT cases and subsequent vote STEALS. Whether they are just going to stand in front of the courthouse for 3 hours, or volunteer their time to help the legal effort, or to become poll watchers and vote counters...Instead of grabassing and mutual weenie walking each other to the tune of “WE LOVE YOU!”

I don’t know how one can come to any different conclusion.

Ballot harvesting is by folks who are not relatives.

Ballot harvesting as practiced in AZ:
1) Voting for voters: Just collecting mail in ballots from various residents of nursing homes, mental and welfare organizations, filling them for them and dropping by hundreds in drop boxes.
2) Help voters: Organizing voters “help” meetings where the voters were instructed and helped how to fill the ballots. Under pressure to fill the “right” way. Ballots were then collected and submitted en masse. On the way, the votes, which somehow managed to be “against” desired outcome were discarded and never submitted.

That is exactly what the racist democrats think. The stupidity of minorities has been the cornerstone of democrat thinking for 200 years.
