The president wants $130 billion for those improvements to schools. But having said that, Congress has already approved $68 billion, and so far as school districts have only spent 4 billion of that 68 billion. Isn’t the $64 billion that’s still in the pipeline, enough money maybe not to solve all the problems but to get a lot more kids back to school?”
Walensky said, “These need space, they need to de-densify their classrooms, they need staffing, they need nurses, another layer of mitigation would be school screening to keep folks safe even after vaccination. So I think we need a lot more resources in order to get the schools safe.
If one of the things that’s really been emphasized in the school reopening is how unsafe some of our school ventilation systems are. That’s a problem not just for SARS-CoV-2 but for other respiratory viruses, for children with asthma, for exposure to mold. I think that there’s a lot of work that we need to do in order to get our children, our schools’ safe environment.”

End the mask, face shield, gloves and social distancing mandate a lot of districts and colleges/ universities have.
Teachers just don’t want to teach wearing that extremely uncomfortable and sometimes painful PPE junk all day.
Until that’s done, teachers will not want to return to the face-to-face classroom

They said it was safe to open schools. The Biden administration balked because of the teachers union and now they reverse course.
It could not be more obvious.
The Biden administration is the administration of special interests over the American workers and children.

Why should they return at all? They are getting paid notwithstanding the fact they are doing little or no actual teaching. Some, like the Chicago teachers, are vacationing with pay in the Caribbean.
How many schoolchildren have died of COVID?

And our school district paid for all of our own modifications.
If more ressources are needed then how does she explain schools and systems that have been open for months without problems?
This has been rotten for the kids. School is a good part of their social life.
We might have had herd immunity IN THEIR RANKS already. We don't know how many have already had it. Likely...millions...
At some point all this money for school improvements is going to disappear into some dark hole and never be seen again. Nothing will be done to follow the money.
