A white father was rejected from joining the San Francisco Unified School District Board of Education’s Parent Advisory Council on Tuesday, apparently due to the color of his skin.
The council had recommended Seth Brenzel, a gay white man, for the role. But following much discussion, school board Commissioner Mark Sanchez eventually pushed back the vote so that people of color could apply for the position, KGO-TV reported.
The current ethnic makeup of the PAC seemingly played a role in the school board’s decision.
“In a district that has so many monolingual families and specifically so many Chinese-speaking families, this is not OK to me,” school board Vice President Alison Collins said.
Asian-Americans currently make up a 33 percent plurality of the San Francisco Unified School District’s students, while Latinos represent 28 percent, white students 15 percent and African-Americans 6 percent, according to KGO.
The fact Brenzel himself is the father of mixed-race children apparently did not have an impact on Collins.
“As a mixed-race person myself, I find it offensive when folks say that somebody is a parent of somebody who is a person of color as like a signifier that they’re qualified to represent that community,” she said.
Brenzel also would have been the only male on the council, with every other member being female.
Some, including Sanchez, thought Brenzel would add a valuable voice to the council.
“He’s gay, that’s an important voice that we don’t have right now, and he’s a man. There are no males on the committee, and I’m really looking forward to having his name brought back to us in a month or two and voting on it with a slate of other folks,” Sanchez said.
This ridiculous instance of political correctness run amok isn’t the first...

This in the interest of "diversity". I mean, it isn't as if half of the country is male or anything...
Well that’s just plain discrimination; racist!
What a messed up system. He’s queer and he has mixed race children. But he still doesn’t have enough social credits that matters.
Keep those Krackers off school boards, legislatures, everything.
UNITY is finally upon us!

If they really wanted be fair based upon proportion of population, most of the school board would be white, and heterosexual-slightly more female. Blacks would be app 13% of the make-up.
If they wanted to base it on proportion of the student body, it would be at least a third Asian-then they’d have to break that down into what kind of Asian.
Leftists are so silly. Too bad they’ve achieved the position in our institutions to be dangerous.
How racist! Oh wait, wrong color (or lack of color). Nothing to see..just move on (I think I’ve gotten one of the Democratic defense for any wrong doing down pat now Next, I need to work on my apology mournful look).

In a city that was 95% white in 1940.
So who built that city? Was it the “Asian Americans”? “Latinos”? Any of them?
No. It was the ancestors of the 15% minority. So where do the newcomers get off occupying the dirt and discriminating?
It’s a foreign takeover of a (formerly) American city.
You can be assured no such thing would happen in Beijing or Mexico City.
A good friend maintains for good schools look at a sizeable Jewish community within the district and many Jews on the school board.
NB: my friend is all Catholic, all the time, but wanted the best for his son.
Liberals eating liberals. Who to root for?
The discrimination has been going on for a long time. It’s going to get worse under one finger joe.
Ha Ha. Well done but we have to impeach you for inciting an insurrection.

Well, that’s offensive and delusional. The community being served is supposed to be the children. A parent is the legal representative of those children. So she’s basically saying that if you have children of color you are not able to represent the interests of your own children.
In addition, she’s stupid as a box of rocks. She should have said that the board wanted to be sure to get the best qualified candidate and would like everyone qualified with an interest in the community to have an opportunity to apply, and that it was nothing to do with anything about the guy personally and for sure not about his race, ethnicity, or sexual persuasion.
According to the Census Bureau’s 2018 demographic estimate for San Francisco county (the city is simultaneously its own county), the numbers for Asians, Hispanics, and Blacks are roughly proportional to their percentage of the population. Here’s a link:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_San_Francisco
The number that is way off is the number of White students. The estimated White population of San Francisco is between 40 to 45 percent. The variation is due to whether or not Hispanics who identify as White (@ 5%) are included in the count.
But the White student number is 15%. That’s a 25-30% disparity. In other words, the missing White student population is possibly as large as the Hispanic student population and only slightly smaller than the Asian student population.
So where are all the White students? Seriously.
If the answer is private schools, that’s a massive number. You would expect the public school administration to be taking legal action to get as many of them back into the public school system as possible - for budgetary reasons, if nothing else.
nobody expects the Spanish Insurr...er nevermind.
I have to laugh this one. Being “Woke” can set you up for some interesting choices.
Probably denied because he was a man...
Well manish. All women board.
Monty, how dare you!
